Pours black with a substantial tan head into the DFH/Sierra IPA glass. Aroma is roast, pine, smoke, dark chocolate and floral. Taste is sweet with some moderate roast bitters, the sweetness is more prevalent though. Medium bodied with a smooth and silky mouth feel.

Pours pitch black with a slightly tan head. Aroma is a mix of roasted malt and hops. Taste is a good balance between the malt and hops. After taste is very bitter, the hops certainly take over. hopdog (12953) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 7, 2013
On tap at the Blue Dog, PA. Poured a dark brown color with an off white head. Chocolate, roasty, pine, and earth. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JUN 5, 2013
12oz bottle: Pours a mostly opaque dark mahogany with a clingy-lacing froth of light tan head. Has a lightly sweet dark malty nose with some light piny hop notes. Starts with pretty good fullness and malty sweetness with a good hop balance and light citrus character before a drier bittersweet finish. A little subdued for the style, but errs on the side of drinkability. queenholly (3623) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - JUN 5, 2013

Cola brown pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, and hops.Lots of chocolate flavor with roasted malt, pine, and a bot of hop bitterness. Decent beer. alexsdad06 (10656) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - MAY 22, 2013
12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark cola brown color with a large, lasting khaki head. The aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate, hints of coffee and some resiny hops. The flavor has some dark malts, but not very roasted, thin black coffee and resiny hops that seem a bit green. I wish the flavor followed the nose. This is a touch thin and missing some of the roasted qualities that make this style work. OldGrowth (3474) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - MAY 22, 2013

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks Good; a dull cola with fluffy beige head. Smells and tastes of hops and dark malt with some roast too. Average on the palate. Solid beer.
