Bottle. Reddish brown with a small creamy head. Nose is nutty, light earthy hops, toasted malt. Flavor is semi-sweet and mild bitterness, light fruity notes, toasted malts. No metal.
Pour deep mahogany with one finger, dense head. Aroma is caramel and brown sugar. Taste is caramel, roast and a hint of clove. Finish is smooth malt. A very drinkable beer when looking to be sociable. Zilverenmaan (315) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - DEC 3, 2017
Taste sweetish, caramel malts, lightly fruity, somewhat hoppy. Faint but pleasant, lingering hoppy aftertaste. Nothing wrong with it, tastes just too thin. beern (237) - Alabama, USA - AUG 19, 2017
Pours brown with a tan head with an aroma of earthy caramel malt. Tastes of sweet caramel malt with a bread and mildly bitter hop finish. It’s medium to light bodied with moderate to lively carbonation. It’s a bit nutty. angrystar (9) - - AUG 12, 2017 does not count

Well... It Is Brown.
I was looking for more malt expression, and they talk of additional hippiness. Really? It Is brown. Don't know how old.

A misleading taste where you expect a smokey, earthy taste and instead you get an intense sweetness. Still welcoming but confusing.

12 oz bottle dated "best by" 3/2011 served in pint glass (from 2011 notes).
Pours a dark amber with a very slight haze and a small amount of tan head. Head quickly dies to a bubbly partial coat with excellent duration.
This is a rich and flavorful brown ale with a strong toasted malt base and a bit more hoppy bitterness (IBU = 15) than usual.
A little earthy. Flavor is much stronger and more complex than the aroma. Some noticeable esters despite moderate ABV of 6.5%.
Rather full body. Moderate carbonation. Susannah (1) - Maryland, USA - MAY 11, 2017 does not count
Love this brown ale! It has a delicious, rich nutty flavor to it. It’s my new favorite! oobawa (1859) - Tennessee, USA - APR 9, 2017
Malt bomb city, caramel and toffee and sweet tea on top of mild, almost undetectable hops. Much more English than the description would lead you to believe, with apple esters and the teensiest bit of floral bitterness falling squarely in Brit territory. Looks...weird, lots of particulate swirling around amid the brown haze, and the nose is flat malt and sweet apple. Palate feels a bit off, too, undercarbonated, which might be why it seems so damn sweet. Still drinkable, though.
