3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
I poured it into a stemmed pint-glassesque receptacle that one of my wife’s friends gave me as a present. Weird....
Ap: Bright orange, well carbonated, and with a slight hazy foam formation for a head.
Ar: Nutmeg, brown sugar, and maybe a touch of cinnamon.
T: Pretty hoppy and bitter for a pumpkin ale, and the gourd itself has yet to make an appearance. This is much more of a shrill hop zing style of pumpkin brew, as opposed to Pumking or Schlafly which are more dark, rich malt based beers.
P: Pretty creamy overall, and I can detect a mild alcohol burn which is not in the least bit offensive.
O: While this strikes me as more of a pumpkin IPA rather than a dark pumpkin concoction, Smutty does IPAs better than most....so....I dig it!
(Bottle) Hazy amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, spicy nose with dried fruit, pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, toffee and rye bread. Malty, spicy taste with notes of dried fruit, spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove), honey, toast, herbal hints of oregano and a balanced spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, mainly dry. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice. LLaurin (483) - Motala, SWEDEN - JAN 26, 2017
