3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a beautiful, cloudy orange. Not gold, not amber, not copper. Orange--one of the truest oranges I’ve seen in a beer. The thick, foamy, off-white head is long lasting with good retention. A beautiful beer in the glass. Aroma is of fresh pumpkin; some pielike spices are noticeable, especially clove, but pumpkin clearly dominates. Some floral hoppiness is discernible in the background. Flavor is a bit reversed, as toasted malts drive the flavor with pumpkin playing only a supporting role. Cloves and spice are noticeable, though. Hops add some bitterness to the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is watery, with some lively carbonation. In sum, a beer that I highly respect for its "historical" flavor, even if its not my favorite tastewise. Great appearance and flavor.
12oz bottle. Pours a hazy pumpkin-y orange with a moderate off-white head. Aroma is pumpkin pie filling, nutmeg, some other light spice, and grain. Taste is pumpkin pie filling, lots of nutmeg, a touch of toffee, tiny bit of cinnamon, and some light nuttiness. Nutmeg lingers. Light-medium body - on the thin side. Average carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. Block (3222) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - NOV 12, 2017
Backlog entry. Good flavors, close to style, as expected without too many surprises. blynde77 (28) - - NOV 4, 2017
The first few sips out of the bottle weren't bad, although certainly not great, for a pumpkin beer. It didn't have the "flavored water" taste and body of other low end pumpkins (like shipyard), so it's decent in the fall, but not a go to.

DATE: November 2, 2017... OCCASION: last practice of soccer 2017--a beautiful night... GLASSWARE: Abita pint... pours a somewhat murky river-yellow orange, with a ring of fleeting off-white head that shows meager foam clinging to the glass... cinnamon, nutmeg, biscuit malts, pumpkin, yes, and some earthiness--underwhelming, but at least detectable... mellow, soft and fuzzy mouthfeel, one that leaves a syrupy sweet finish... drinkable, smooth and coating... the cinnamon and nutmeg are not demonstrative... apple and pear offer residual... almost reads as a lager... borderlines as a fruit beer, and not representative of its 45 IBUs either... with so many full-flavored fall seasonals available, this doesn't really move the needle.... A nice pumpkin beer. More cinnomen and uyager tasting. Not the best. Could use more pumpkin.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2017 Taster pour at Powder Keg Beer and Chili Festival/taster pour at source. Appearance is light brown hazy with nice sparkle at side of the glass, finger-width white foamy head, mild lacing. Aroma is light pumpkin spice, general maltiness. Taste is light pumpkin--not overpoweringly sweet, perhaps not sweet enough--and not much else. Palate is medium bodied with average-to-lively carbonation, foamy texture and moderately pumpkin-y finish but surprisingly not sweet, even a little bit bitter. Overall, often spice/herb/vegetable beers whack you over the head with whatever the special flavor they have. This one is too restrained and there isn't enough of a base beer behind it to rescue it. Forgettable. Gorgosh (521) - SWEDEN - SEP 1, 2017

(Bottle) Hazy amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, spicy nose with dried fruit, pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, toffee and rye bread. Malty, spicy taste with notes of dried fruit, spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove), honey, toast, herbal hints of oregano and a balanced spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, mainly dry. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice. LLaurin (550) - Motala, SWEDEN - JAN 26, 2017
Nose is very rich in flavours with pimpernell and some muscot nut. Looks really nice in medium amber with white head. Taste is like gingerbread and x-mas time. Palate is short but not bad.
