Old Ale (also known as Stock Ale), is a full-bodied beer with high levels of dextrins. In times past, this beer was typically laid up to mature, hence the name. The color varies from rich, dark amber to a very dark brown. This style features fruity, vinuous & deep, malty flavors, giving it an almost port-like qualities. Sight acidity is not uncommon.
Olive, iconic mascot & spirit guide of our brewery, first appeared on our Old Brown Dog label in 1994 & returned, thirteen years later, to pose for our Really Old Brown Dog, a luscious, malt-rich, full bodied old ale featuring deep notes of complex fruit. Much like our beloved Olive, this beer will mellow & age gracefully.

Bottle. Pours a deep orange-hued clear body with a small off-white head. Aroma is caramel, orange peel, almond essence and hints of brown bread and nuts. Taste is brown bread, almond essence, burnt sugar, caramel and hints of alcohol, nuts and toffee. Medium body and carbonation. Fair enough, but no winner.

2012 Vintage. Strong sweet malt aroma and a good upfront caramel taste, but it has definitely mellowed out over the last four years and its deceptively smooth and balanced.

Pours a hazy brown from the bottle with thin tan bubbly head. Aroma of malty sweetness, hint of nuttiness. Taste is more toward sweetness, nice malt and caramel, hint of toffee. Booze is pretty well hidden, soft carbonation, good stuff.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2017 butelka, warka - niestety zatarte. ciemny acz nadal przejrzysty, ciemny bursztyn z miedziano-brazowymi nalecialosciami, ladna piana niestety blyskawicznie znikajaca, zostajaca obraczka brudzaca szklo. Aromaty dosc intensywne i zlozone: karmel, ciemne owoce, truskawki, wisnie, landrynki, chleb, ciastka, rodzynki, jakies winne klimaty, drewniane, bakaliowe, porto, miod... kazde powachanie daje nieco inne wrazenie - fajny efekt. Slodkie. Piwo do powolnego, deserowego sączenia. Nieco przywodzi na mysl niektore belgijskie okolice stylistyczne. Baaardzo dobre
