Another beer from Smuttynose’s arsenal that manages to be a really solid beer that’s readily available and inexpensive. This is a great Rye IPA that combines spicy/earthy rye bite and general IPA hop bitterness, but that manages to be tasty and refreshing, all while costing about $1.50 a bottle. It’s stuff like this that makes Smutty such a great brewery. AdmiralVernon (1196) - SWEDEN - MAR 16, 2016
Great IPA! I loved this one with a well balance of flavours, bitterness and sweetness. Cybercat (5895) - Georgia, USA - MAR 8, 2016
Pours slightly hazy orange-amber with a thick ivory head. Aroma presents strong hoppy and rye tones. Flavor echoes the aroma, but kicks it up a notch and introduces a touch of grapefruit plus some dusty malt. Mouthfeel is typical, though it has a nice hoppy and rye finish. Save the Rhye-nos! kevinator (2268) - The Colony, Texas, USA - JAN 28, 2016
Great spicy hop nose. Cool bottle. Orange-copper color, cloudy with a small head. Nice weight with carbonation that matches the moderate bitterness. Piney, rye spice and a mild caramel sweetness. LLaurin (493) - Motala, SWEDEN - JAN 26, 2016
Pours with a light head but very nice nose. Hops topping the maltiness. Taste more malty than expected and still some hops present. A little bit short on the palate.

Pours a hazy, deep golden orange color with tangerine edges and a half finger off-white head that slowly settles into a thin, lasting ring. Decent retention with sporadic spots of soapy lacing left behind.
Sweet and earthy aroma with grassy hops, spicy rye and a strong malt character. Lots of caramel sweet along with some bread, toffee and roasted nut. Slight floral hop presence with a bit of resinous pine but the malt profile and rye take away from the hops in the nose.
On the fuller end of medium bodied with a crisp hop bite up front that lingers over the spice and sweet malt backbone into a slightly dry finish. The rye is very prominent with a nice spicy, zesty flavor that nicely compliments the dry, earthy bitterness of the hops. Hop profile is a bit one dimensional but still has nice flavor. The malt backbone is huge, much stronger than I prefer. Lots of caramel, biscuit and toffee. Good for balance and blends well with the rye but it takes away from the hop flavor a bit too much for my preference. Still, this beer is very dry and bitter with spicy, grassy hops and dank pine needle character. Overall a decent tasting beer but I don’t think I would seek it out again. Part of a sampler at Jet Rock at PHL terminal B. Hazy copper with minimal head. Malt dominates the flavor and aroma. rondphoto (4468) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - NOV 3, 2015
bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Aroma of fruit and malt, along with citrus hops. Hazy dark orange amber color, frothy two-finger beige head, cobwebs of lace. Taste is toffee and malt that cruises through a lightly carbonated swallow to a finish that has plenty of citrus hops, albeit, not enough to damage the malt. I’m not getting any taste of rye,...but, it doesn’t matter. This is a terrific, well-balanced, complex brew. Highly recommended. nihtila (3670) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 24, 2015
Keg at Ushers. Hazy orange. Nose is sticky sweet resin and caramel, orange marmalade. Taste is sticky and sweet caramel and fruits, resinous hoppy bitter, citrus marmalade, rye maltiness. Sweet but great. Svesse (8616) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - OCT 9, 2015
(Bottle) Orange amber colour with frothy, off-white head, leaving traces of lacing. Malty, fruity nose with apricot marmalade, Seville orange, crisp-bread, a touch of honey and fresh citric/resiny hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of apricot marmalade, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, crisp-bread, honey and a generous citric, resiny bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Fresh and tasty with a generous hop profile. Excellent beer.
