COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our most award-winning beer, Robust Porter honors the dark, full-bodied ales that were a favorite of dockworkers and warehousemen (hence the name “Porter”) in 19th century London, where the style originated.
It’s a good bet that when Dickens’ Mr. Pickwick sat down for a pint, his beer would have been very similar to our Robust Porter. This smooth, deceptively drinkable beer features an assertive hop profile which accentuates signature flavors of coffee and dark chocolate.

this beer looks absolutely gorgeous in the glass, deep, dark amber-black with a light brown head. aroma is fantastic as well, roasted coffee and chocolate as well as something else i can't place, something sweet. perfectly hopped with a bitter finish. this is an intensely great beer and i applaud the brewers at smuttynose for putting this one together.

This is one of my favorites! Not too malty with lots of dry bite and good coffee flavors. Easy to get through one or many more.

One of my favorite porters that I have come across. Its more malty than sweet. A little more dry than most porters but a keeper none the less.

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2005 Very poundable porter. But with a ABV of 5.6% makes it an expensive task to measure the buzz. Make it 7+ and it’s a classic.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2007 Definitly a Robust Porter. Roasted and toasted malt. A mouthful of flavor with a dry bitter finish. Great for dessert or on a cold night.

Dark with brown medium head if poured fairly fast. Nice rich nutty flavor, sharp with smooth finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer was almost perfect. A sweet creamy flavour with coffee and chocolate notes mixed with a mild taste of hops. The only let down was the head was kind of small and was a little water on the tounge. Truly a robust porter.

I loved this beer! The chocolate aroma and its nutty after swallow was a treat for my palate. I found my favorite porter.

Thanks to Lou18 for this one. Poured dark black with a light brown head. The aroma was HUGE coffee, bread, chocolate, carmel, and malts. Unbelievable coffee smell, add in the other aromas and combine and you have a beer orgasm. Flavor is coffee, nuts, and chocolate. Lush malt body with the perfect balance. The flavor and aroma are superb. What a joy this one is.

Pours a dark black with light brown head. Has a strong coffee and chocolate aroma. Has a rich chocolate, coffee, and light malt taste, with a rich cocoa espresso aftertaste.
