Draft served in a tulip at Teller’s. Pours a bright, clear ruby-red color with a finger-thick foamy white head. Aroma of raspberries, balsamic vinegar, vanilla, oak, bretty funk, and old lemon juice. Flavor of raspberries, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, cherry juice, lactic acid, and very dry wood. Light-bodied, with a tart, dry mouthfeel and medium carbonation. I very much liked the nose to this one, but the flavor wiped out a little, especially late. Dried up too quickly into nothing instead of lingering on the fresh, sweet, and tart raspberries that show up initially.

Wow this one was interesting. I got lots of sour cherries, raspberries, vinegar, oak and yeast in the nose. Flavor is quite floral and juicy. Tart but not sour. Fun beer.

On tap at Discount Beverage in Seaford, NY. Strong smell of raspberries, brett, vinegar, pack a wallop. The appearance is pink/red, white foam with pink hue. The flavor is lots of raspberry, vinegar, brett, acid, some solvent like thing as well. The finish was again a battle of the cloyingly sweet raspberry preserves vs. the vinegar sourness and acidity. Medium in body. Enjoyable enough, far from the best sour/wild out there.

On tap at Novare Res (I think). Red with ring head. Sweet raspberry jam and sweet tarts aroma. Sweet raspberry jam with astringent very dry sour finish. Tastes artificial and unblended. Probably the worst Flanders Red I have had.

Aroma sweet raspberry nose , clean , organic freshness.
Appearance ruby red , clear with nicely contrasting white top. 4-
Flavor and Palate : Nice balanced tartness , not overpowering. Zesty with true berry feel. Refreshing especially in hot summer days.

Tap at Ginger Man: deep red pour with an off white ring. Acidic aroma with a hint of tart cherry character. Tart and crisp body. Quite acidic and very very dry. Some tannic cherry skin notes come through but overall it’s just very citric and lactic acidity all around. Unique, but not standout. Simple.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2011 Rerate from an older sample. Bright ruddy pour. The nose is loaded with cherry skin and lots of soft supple chewiness. Very intense tartness. Bright lactic acidity backed by some earthier flavour. Light funkiness backing the tartness. It’s quite clean and simple, but it’s very tasty. The acidity has really picked up in the intervening weeks. Some soft fruit skin astringency. Nice stuff. Tap at Blind Tiger. Deep clear red pour. The nose is pretty light with a touch of raspberry character. A light clean tartness and a quite lactic character. The fruit is definitely there but it’s got an odd youngness to it. A little bit herbal and quite dirty tasting. It smells okay but it tastes awful. 6 3 5 3 10

Tap at The Gate. Strong apple, green grape, lemongrass notes in the aroma, citric acid, artificial "sour patch kids" sourness. Bright, funky and fruity. Very berry sour, tons more sour candy, pineapple, melon. Pretty neat stuff here, very unique and candy-like.

On tap at The Publick House. Nice ruby colored body with a thin white head with irregular sized bubbles. Nose of raspberries and a touch of vinegar. The body feels pretty solid for a sour, definitely some bread and grain, but overall the tartness is what stands out. Flavors of cherry peels and unripe raspberries pave the sour profile, while the malts are soft and light like lady fingers soaked in rum. The finish is a bit watery, but the tartness holds just longer enough for my preference. Very delicious beer.

at Tyler’s . Ok aroma, sour, fruity, cranberry, raspberry. Clean orangy red color, good head that faded quick. little to no lace. Tart sour flavor, minor sweet streak. Lite body, thin mouthfeel, sour bitter finish. I dunno, occasionally was enjoying this, but not all the way through. nothing can point to as particularly bad, just ok
