[2/3/17] Draught/Bottle at Extreme Beer Fest in Boston. Brown. Vegetal, earthy, sweetish, toast, bitterish finish. AirForceHops (8179) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 16, 2016
Years after the initial release, I finally purchased at bottle at Spruce Creek Provisions. Deep brown color with ruby highlights. Aroma is Earthy soil, mild wine. Mushrooms in this? Maybe comes of as weak earth. Light chocolate. tfontana (1227) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 10, 2016
At best this is a mildly earthy porter. Red wine is hardly noticed and the "mushrooms" come off as an earthy note. Body is a bit on the thin side with a bone dry texture. Yeah, I guess I never really missed anything with this brew.
Tap pour into taster cup at the source. Appearance is caramel color, finger-width foamy beige head with nice lacing, mild sparkle. Aroma is mild malt, earthiness. Taste is malty, like a standard brown ale but with interesting earthiness too. Palate is medium bodied with watery texture, average-to-lively carbonation, and dry, earthy finish. Overall, if you’re into mushrooms, which I am not, then you’d probably enjoy this quite a bit. I can appreciate what it’s doing, but don’t particularly care for it. fonefan (53055) - VestJylland, DENMARK - DEC 9, 2016

Bottle shared at the 2015 edition of the chriso Pre-GBBF tasting - London. Cheers! Pours cloudy brown with a creamy, tan head. Nice aroma, with notes of toasted malts, chocolate and earth. Medium sweet flavour with some toasted toffee, earthy bitterness, mellow cocoa. Light to medium bodied with lively carbonation. OK finish, with a bit of brown bread and chocolate. Tasty and enjoyable. The_Osprey (9916) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 21, 2015
Bottle share at Chriso’s. Dark brown, decent foamy tan head. Aroma is milky coffee, chocolate, ashes. Body is medium to light, soft carbonation, foamy. Taste has lots of butter, chocolate, vanilla with an ashy finish. Interesting. Can’t say I got much of the mushroom or red wine additions, but this might be for the best.
