Take a break from the Sturm und Drang of modern life, with this elegant, refreshing pilsner. Our brewers created Vunderbar! with both feet grounded in tradition, focusing on authentic German pilsner malt and spicy Czech Saaz hops. The result just might get you to shimmy into your favorite lederhosen, bust into a quick schuhplattler and loudly proclaim, “Das ist Vunderbar!” Formerly known as Shortbatch #11

Smutty always does a great job with classic Old World beer styles and this is no exception. Light bitterness with crisp Saaz hops. Nice malt balance which gives it a German character and rounds out the palate, similar to a Dortmunder. Carbonation is pretty high.

Dacrza (1022) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - OCT 6, 2017
DATE: October 6, 2017... OCCASION: a Friday night with Shan watching TV... GLASSWARE: PSU pilsner... clear, sallow yellow body with large bubbles that rush upward into a thin, uneven head... the power of the Saaz hops cuts through with a sweet malt base... a smooth, pleasant mouthfeel makes each sip swift... the finish is dry, crisp, with a bit of lager to it, rounded and thick... the flavor profile isn't diverse, settling on the noble hops to develop a metallic ping that doesn't hit as sharply as other pilsners do... the malts are light and aromatic, and the overall take is a clean one... a beer I would drink happily, but not one I would seek out...

Grassy yeast with a doughy and crystal malt finish. Very enjoyable pilsner.

jsmerig (1663) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 27, 2017
Pours a hazy yellow gold with a bright white head. Aroma of hay/straw. Starts mildly sweet and turns a little bitter as the taste goes on. As it does a strong earthy note prevails. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pale yellow pour with aroma of lemongrass and grain. Citrus/ lemon sweetness with a solid grain background. Flavorful and well done.

Can shared with Jon, clear yellow golden with small white head. Notes of crisp pils malt, lager, wood, toast and grain. Refreshing and bitter at the same time from the saaz . Very nice pils.

Wow, this stuff is really good. Solid and authentic Pils rendering through what appears to be German malts and hops. The hops definitely taste Noble. A very fluffy beer with a fine fluffy head. Rich and smooth at the same time.....like any great German Pils or Hefe. No hints of DMS...another huge plus. This beer is closest to von Trapp Bohemian Pils than any other American Pils I’ve had. Very well done.

12floz bottle (BBD: 08.23.2017, $1.50), I’m not sure if the same beer as there isn’t an exclamation point in the beer’s name on this bottle (just kidding, I’m sure it is). This pilsner is in the German vein; straw in color and minimal foam, soil and grain aroma that provides a similar earthy, medium-light bodied palate. Tasty pils.
