Bottle, dark walnut brown color with scant foam, aroma of roast nut, flavor is smooth lighter bodied roast chocolate, maple, honey, finish has a little too much alcohol corby112 (2813) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 12, 2015
Pitch black, cloudy and opaque with a one finger light beige head that quickly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
Slightly earthy, roasted malt aroma. Some piny resinous hops countered by dark chocolate malt, toast, coffee bean and oatmeal. Decent amount of roast but sweetness and fudge/dessert like characteristics are dominant. Still slightly hop forward.
Medium bodied with a decent balance of earthy hops, roasted malt and alcohol sweetness. Dry piny bitterness up front with resinous oils and grassy pine needle flavor. This is countered by sweet chocolate, toffee and caramel as well as burnt toast, dark chocolate, oatmeal and roasted coffee bean. Prominent boozy sweetness and heat in the finish. Decently balanced but a touch too hot for my preference. tmongoose (2504) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - NOV 1, 2015
draft sampler that poured a dark brown with light brown head. the nose was of roasted malts and hints of hops and that strain of Belgian yeast mild yet very distinctive. the flavor you get that same Belgian strain but I picked up notes of bourbon and vanilla and oak..all very mild in degree. most notable was the chocolate. decent abv but still off in a way...otherwise still drinkable

Some interesting aromas, however not delivering. A dry stout with syrup. Not very drinkable. My first? Smuttynose drainpour. halfonit (1412) - Fall River, Massachusetts, USA - AUG 1, 2015
Pours black with a tall, tan head. Aroma is of well-roasted malts, roastyness, nuttiness, spice, cloves, and oak. Full bodied. Flavor is of roasty, toasty, and chocolaty malts, dark fruits, some spice, Belgian yeast, cloves, and oak barrels Leaves an oaked Belgian stout finish. Good stuff. shadey (2171) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUL 23, 2015
22oz bottle. Very glossy black pour with no head. Aroma is rich and earthy. A little smokey. Flavors are not sweet or sticky. A touch alcoholic, but not bad. Tough to place, which I suppose fits with its mixed heritage. Not really noticing the begian yeast, but the stout and barrel character come through. hershiser2 (3834) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - JUL 9, 2015
Bottle. Pours dark and thick. Not much of a head. Smells wonderful. Chocolates and coffee, dark fruit, creamy vanilla. Taste is alcohol, coffee, vanilla, chocolates, dark fruit. Yum.

(Bottle, 0.65 l, at laiti’s, 20150613) The beer poured very dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, molasses and yeast. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, yeast, bread, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and mildy bitter. A nice malty brew
