3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black pour with a 2 finger, creamy tan head. Aroma of dark fruit, sharp licorice/anise, sweet bread spices, roast, burnt sugar, vanilla, earth and woody notes. The flavor is interesting, it starts off pretty normal, with some roast, coffee, caramel, hints of smoke, light woody and vanilla notes, and white bread toast, then a second wave of flavor hits with licorice, coconut and mint, as it moves more toward the back of my mouth. It finishes with earth, chocolate, roast, dark fruit banana bread and that coconut, licorice and mint lingering on. Medium body, slightly creamy entry that immediately dries to a pretty dry finish. Pretty enjoyable overall, it really has some interesting flavors going on, though not necessarily 100% good.

Bottle, 650ml. A dark beer with minimal brown head. Aroma is of dried fruits and alcohol. Taste is moderately bitter with an aftertaste of dried fruits, especially raisins. Light bodied for an Imperial Stout with considerable carbonation. Somewhat alcoholic finish. dfinney23 (3271) - Houston, Texas, USA - AUG 29, 2016
I think I get what they’re aiming for but this comes off more like "stout light" than "Belgianized". A little fruitier than a typical stout but lacks complexity and subtleties that would be found in a fine Belgian. DiarmaidBHK (4907) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 23, 2016
Draft at Hayseed. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Leaves trace lacing in the glass. Fairly fruity on the nose. Interesting mix of roasted malt and Belgian yeast notes on the tongue. Finished clean. This vintage was from a 2012 keg so the flavors may have deepened as opposed to a fresh keg.

Bottle. Brought this bottle that I aged 13 months to the In-laws to share. They made the Easter dinner for us. Pours dark brown with a small, creamy, tan head. The aroma is a collection of chocolate, plums, figs, vanilla, brown sugar, toasted bread and roasted nuts. Full-bodied and oily with modest carbonation. The flavor is nicely balanced – roasty, toasty and loaded with dark chocolate, figs and dates. Lightly bitter finish. TaktikMTL (7798) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 7, 2016
