4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle 33cl. Hazy deep amber brown color with a red hue, one finger creamy beige head, recedes slowly , thick layer remains, good lacing; aroma sweet malty, toffee, dark dried fruits, alcohol, cinnamon, citrus; taste malty sweet, slightly bitter, a bit vinous, alcohol; full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation; lingering dry bitter finish, woody and earthy notes. Very special beer.
Behoorlijk zware quad die toch licht van kleur is. Zwaar zoet met tonen van drop en zoethout. Warm alcoholisch, maar met 9.2 niet overdreven sterk. Laag in koolzuur. Al met al een mooi degustatiebier. john44 (3078) - SW London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 13, 2017
Bottle. Copper-coloured, fruity, malty and, surprisingly, hoppy barley wine. Grapefruity & orange citrus hops. Initially sweet; caramel, toffee, spices, dried fruits. Then a dry hoppy bitter finish. Evident alcohol hit. Overall the citrus hops dominate. Nice beer. (2008)

Dark orange/brown beer. Medium sized white head. Aroma: slightly sweet, hops, caramel toffee, licorice. Taste: slightly sweet arrival, good amount of hops, caramel, citrus fruits and raisins. Nice Barley Wine. martjoobolut (4230) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 29, 2016
Bottle, BB 21.04.2017. Pours dark amber with beige head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, candy, caramel, malt. Flavor is sweet and bitter, fruits, caramel, malt, candy, bit sticky. Finish is sweet and somewhat dry bitter. Sweetness covers the alcohol well. Drinkability is good, if you don’t mind the sweetness and heavy body. Overall: very nice brew. Opaque orange brown beer with a thin white head.
Smell is hoppy and sweet. Fruity with cherries, plums, peaches, honey. Hint of pepper and resin. Taste starts tart and sweet almost like a lambic, with cherries and nice acidity. The heavy honey sweetness balances well with the alcoholic bitterness, the whole fading into resin bitterness with a hint of fruitiness. Very good! Finish is hoppy. Notes of licorice, hops, coriander and port. Palate: medium body, oily texture and lively carbonation. What a variety of aromas and tastes in this beer. gegwilson (3676) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2016
Bottle brought back from a trip to Amsterdam. Pours deep a,ber with a frothy cream head. Nice jammy apricot aroma. The taste has lots of caramel with stewed fruits and a little light spice. Maybe a little butterscotch and cough drop in there too. Nice full mouthfeel. Very good.
