Dark red / amber colored beer. Smells sweet, rich and complex. I taste caramel, figgs, resins and ripe red fruit. The best barley wine I have tasted so far. MitchWayne (263) - Kokkola, FINLAND - FEB 28, 2009
Really good barley wine, the dry hoppy end and the aftertaste reminds me of lingonberries. Sweetness stays under control. My kind of american style barley wine, a winter warmer. My only complaint is that my bottle didn’t have that awesome eagle in it, it had a new, more "look what i made while drinking heavily and using powerpoint" kind of a flair to it. omhper (25125) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - NOV 21, 2002
Bottled. Chesntut brown. Big huge grapefruity cascade hop aroma. Rather sweet and really full bodied, but dominated by intense hoppiness. A very american style barley wine with a lingering hop bitter finish. Fukito (1059) - Santiago, CHILE - APR 6, 2007
Tap at Arendsnest, march 07. Pretty strong "C" hop aroma and a nice toffee touch with some pineapples, pepper and strange whisky ending. Deep, profound, bittersweet flavor, tons of different tones and a great juicy ending. Excellent. Medium to heavy MF, dangerously drinkable though. Amazing strong ale. wyzzywyz22 (2108) - Wirral, Merseyside, ENGLAND - JAN 27, 2009
Bottle, Winter Ales Festival, Manchester.
This was hugely enjoyable. Poured a hazy dark orange. Wionderful fresh and fruity grapefruit cascade hop aroma. Flavour also hop packed with bags of tropical fruit. Great body, pleasantly thick, with a subdued but nicely balanced caramel malt presence. Lip smackingly tasty. Would love to get my hands on some more of this.

Surprisingly good Barley Wine. Nice creamy off white head that sticks to your glass. Raisins, yeast and ripe dark fruit in the aroma. Taste of raisins, prunes, caramel and pines. A nice dry hoppy finish.

hazy brown colour, medium sized creamy yellowish head; aroma of caramel, biscuit, resiny notes, dried berries, hints of vanilla, some orange zest oils and maybe grapefruit; taste of malty-caramel and biscuit like sweetness with honey notes, resiny hops, raisins, vanilla, dried berries, some herbal and grapefruit notes; great barley wine Ober (2812) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - MAR 7, 2008
It’s a hazy dark orange colored beer. It has a solidly beige head. It stays for a long time. Aromas of fruit, very hop bitter and touches of caramel. The taste goes from soft to bitter. Also a nice tintillating, a little dry taste in the back. Taste stays for a long time. A very good Dutch beer in an American style. tderoeck (9710) - Gent, BELGIUM - JUL 1, 2012

Clear dark red to purple beer, small light beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, rich malty, caramel, bit of chloride, milk chocolate, ripe figs, touch of mocha and ripe banana. MF: good carbon, medium to full body. Taste: chocolate, sweet malts, ripe fruits, dried cranberries and other fruits, nice bitter touch, dark chocolate, cocoa powder. Aftertaste: dark chocolate, little sour, pretty bitter yet fruity ending.
Deep mahogany red, almost brown with a medium, thick, sticky, frothy, lasting, lacy off-white head. Smells of full deep malt with caramel, pepper, aniseed, berries, citrus fruit and mild alcohol. Raisin, biscuit, and leather. Medium to full oily body that warms the mouth. Light carbonation. Deep delicious sweet malty caramel taste that is well blacked and not too strong. Citrus and light bitterness on the finish. Deep and delicious. The alcohol is present and could be smoothed out in time. An excellent rich barley wine.
