Bottle. Poured a flat somewhat bubbly head, deep copper amber hazy hue. Oxidation notes, caramel sweetness, red apples, and candy in the aroma. Overly sweet, oxidized sherry flavors, some slight faded citrus hops, alcohol burn, slight cherry. Heavier body with nearly flat carbonation. Clearly oxidized even though I bought it fresh at the source a month ago. Opened without any hiss and very flat in general. Would’ve liked to try a properly bottled version or on tap. jlanning215 (363) - Peoria, Illinois, USA - SEP 5, 2012
Thanks to my wife for getting this for my while she was in Jackson Hole on a Geology trip. This is part of the Big Bottle Series. Can’t really complain about much. This is so good. Smells sweet and caramel like. No head at all and little carbonation. Deep red-orange. Sweet and finishes dry. relally great. Rich. So good. Not hot. ON tap at Avery Strong Ale Fest poured a clear reddish amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, toffee and fruittiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry warming finish. Flavors of toffee, apricot and light carmel with a smooth dry lingering fruity finish. cubs (10742) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 19, 2011
Tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Ruby red appearance with tan/red head. Sweet red fruity nose that’s fairly hoppy. Flavor is pretty hoppy with a strong fruity and malty flavor. Not super smooth and fairly alcoholic finish.
