COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by the Belgian sour ales of West Flanders, Le Serpent Framboise has a distinctive acidity and complexity. It is brewed once a year in French oak barrels. Fresh Oregon raspberries are added in July. A mixed culture of "wild" organisms used for makes each batch truly unique. Le Serpent is hand bottled and available in very limited quantities. ENJOY 2012 = 6 cases bottled

Bottle split at RB Best Encomium share, Santa Rosa, 30/01/16 - Many Thanks ! Hazed reddish amber with a decent off white to crimson cap. Nose is big tangy rasperries, mellow oak, wood must, strawberries, hay bale. Taste comprises mellow funk, damp wood, raspberry tang, red berry must, funk, light barnyard, tangy berry compote, mellow acidic feel. Medium bodied, fine carboanton, semi drying close. Decent easy drinking sour but failing to realise any depth and complexity that would elveate it into top 50 style for me !

This was a bottle share at the Ratebeer Summer Gathering (RBSG) 2017 Meet and Greet. In my tasting glass was sort of a cross between red and purple. White foam. Nose was tart berry with big funk. Medium body and a smooth mouthfeel. The finish is long and sweet with berry funk really big and tasty. Loved this one.

Pour at the RBSG17 opening meet and greet. Pours a softly hazed ruby tinged amber with a thin white head. Big seedy raspberries on the nose. Funk and acid. Medium bodied, acid, a bit of funk, raspberries, toast, a bit of sweetness. Lovely berry tones all through, funk and wood.

Bottle thanks to Toby. Pours a cloudy red brown color with a medium white head. A big sweet fruity cherry nose. The flavor is big sharp cherry, woody, vanilla, damn good flavor.

RBWG16. No doubt thanks goes to the uber generous Boise crew. Cheers mates! This 2012 vintage bottle pours out with a murky copper colored body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up berry notes that are both tart and meaty berry with a bit of yeast and funk in the background. The taste begins tart and then it quickly becomes puckering as a modest level of berry fruitiness sets in. The light fruitiness doesn’t hold a torch to the tart, refreshing puckeringness going on here. Solid.

Bottle @ RBWG 2016. Thanks Jeremy! Set is now complete. Milky amber colored beer with white foam. A whole lot of raspberry jam, fresh fruit, and some tangy lemon. A touch zesty, lightly acetic, and some damp oak. Flavor is quite sour, which I expected from the other beers in the set. Nice fruit, a touch of sweet malt, and vanilla from the barrels. Good beer.
