Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver; 6.3% ABVOakes (18472) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 9, 2015
Dark brown color, close to black, with beige head. Not too dry, but definitively they had a heavy hand with roasty ashy malts; and it’s wisely spiked with diacetyl; nuts, dark caramel, blah blah.
On tap at St. Augustine’s. Chestnut. Thin head. Very toasty, touch nutty, and a dash of malty sweetness. Crit (4049) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 23, 2015
Brown, small beige head.Vague malt nose nad palate with medium hop bitterness in finish. Lacks the necessary malt sweetness for the style. stantheman (1098) - British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 18, 2015
On tap at St Augustine’s in Vancouver. A very dark brown beer with beige head. Nose is very faint..of nothing in particular. Pleasant taste if one is partial to traditional brown ales, else not much of interest here. 3.2. mcberko (18557) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 16, 2015
On tap at St Augustine’s, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is subtle, with toasted malt. Flavour brings out metallic toasted malt notes and an unpleasant astringency on the finish. Four beers by Snipes Mountain tonight that’ve seemed off - something is wrong here. This isn’t good.
