COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This lip-smacking dark ale is mellow and malty. The aroma is reminiscent of bittersweet dark chocolate and the caramel and roast malt flavors are exceptionally smooth. Medium bodied, with a slightly sweet edge but a dry finish.

Skyview (6093) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JUN 24, 2008
On draught at the brewery taproom in Snoqualmie, WA. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a creamy beige head that has some good retention and some spotty lacing. Aroma of oatmeal malt, dark chocolate a touch of coffee and some roasted nuts. Taste is medium bodied, mild carbonation with flavors of roasted dark malt, dark chocolate, and some coffee. Finish is slightly sweet at first and then quickly changes to a dry oatmeal and multi-grain malt aftertaste.

hayduke (5618) - Eureka, California, USA - APR 10, 2009
This poured from the 22 oz bottle a very dark brown that let in no light and raised a light brown head with good retention and good lacing. Nose of roasted malts with chocolate, coffee, and ripe fruit. Soft creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is heavy on the coffee and the finish is dry. A very decent porter.

BückDich (5464) - McCall, Idaho, USA - JUN 12, 2007
Bottle: Dark brown, licorice like color, light head and lacing. Nose of nuts, cocoa, skin and a bit much of diacetyl. Flavor of some creamy chocolate and sharp astringent roast, some light nutella notes. The finish is a bit sticky and dry, lots of astringency, decent though for a robust porter.

heemer77 (5360) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - NOV 7, 2005
Very much a black body with a light tan head. This leaves a very heavy lacing on the side of the glass. The aroma was pancake syrup along with some coffee and chocolate. The taste had some dark coffee and some milk chocolate. There is a nice smooth and slick mouthfeel with little carbonation. This is a nice porter, but could use a little more body. Recieved in a trade with Larry Pitonka.

A deep dark brown color. Great aroma with chcolate, and toffee and roasted malts. Great flavor and a deep richness that was awesome. This Beer Rocked.

CapFlu (5129) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 27, 2007
(Draught) Sampled at Taphouse in Seattle. A rather expensive sampler at $9.95 for four 4-ounce samples. Pours an opaque body with a dissipated beige head with lasting cream topping. Nose of strong coffee grounds. Strong coffee and cocoa. Flavour with surprisingly thing texture. Very smooth and good with a bitter coffee grounds finish.

DialSquare (5119) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 23, 2007
Bottle. Pours dark brown, almost black. Aroma of roasted malts & cocoa. Heavily roasted malts and a slight hop bitterness. Minor cocoa, chocolate as well. Medium body. Slightly dry finish, with a decent chocolately roasted malt flavor.

IndianaRed (4936) - Boise, Idaho, USA - SEP 3, 2004
Bottle Pours very dark chocolatey brown with a very hefty tan head and decent lacing. Aroma seems a bit light for the style. Hazelnut, coffee and dark roast. Subtle though. Flavor is more coffee-ish and smokey/burnt. Feel is a bit thin and the aftertaste has a nice sharp bite that lingers. Not bad, but was hoping for more.

tiggmtl (4544) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 20, 2007
Chocolate sweetness with plenty of fruit character in the nose. Opaque black body is topped by a low tan head that lasts well and laces. Chocolate sweetness and fruitiness reminiscent of raisins occupy the tastebuds with a doughy, bready malt character. Medium body with decent carbonation. Bottle sampled with beerbuzzmontreal, cathschlag, MartinT, Siroy and Yowie.

maxwelldeux (4374) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - DEC 20, 2013
Bottle. Pours a near-black color with a moderate tan head on it. Nose has a fair amount of roasting and just a hint of unsweetened chocolate in there. Taste is light and smooth, with a little coffee bitterness coming through, and a bitter chocolate finish to it. Nice porter.
