3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
I just wrote a treatise about the virtue of Panamanian beer (see Panama entry), so I won’t reiterate it here. The only clarification; this is the best of the 3% beer of Panama. It has a super delicate floral aroma and an incredibly soft palate. You drink it any place but the tropical sun, and you’ll agree with Jacob--but in the tropical sun...wonderful.

The aroma isn’t terrible. A little metallic but not funky. The beer itself is also taking a noticeable amount of aluminum flavor with some genera macro brew rice flavor. Not good. Lubiere (13796) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 8, 2015
A pale yellow lager with a thin white head. In aroma, light grassy malt with light corn adjunct notes, faint German hops, light. In mouth, a light sweet grassy malt with light honey and corn notes, light German hops, decent for the style. 0.75$ can at store close to my hotel. HellesBunny666 (243) - Virginia, USA - JAN 15, 2015
Very little aroma, dry and metallic. Light body. Bitter. Dry. Light malt notes, not much carbonation or flavor. Emeister84 (2481) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - JAN 15, 2015
Aromas of soda water, wet moss, and butt. Clear pale gold, fully disappearing white head, effervescent. Dry, flavors of stale tortillas. Light bodied, crisp.

I lived in Panama off and on for ~8 years and tried all of the local beers. Typically the local beers are not all that good and this is no exception. They taste watered down and usually leave a slightly bitter and yeasty aftertaste. I think that this is actually somewhat smoother than the other local brand; Atlas & Balboa. Not a great beer but I could drink it if it is nice and cold. I prefer to always get the beer in a bottle if possible. The taste is much better than in the cans. rcasta (861) - EL SALVADOR - JAN 29, 2014
Aroma is one of beer’s most complex features. Aroma is propelled by lively CO2 and dampened by pillowy heads - especially nitrogen foam. Click on a term below to add it to your tasting notes. kaser (6221) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 26, 2013
Can of this in boco del toros. Skunky and nasty taste and smell. Not sure if it just a bad beer or a bad beer. Cold , so that a isn't it. Yuck. But drinking it all seymour (2001) - Maplewood, Missouri, USA - AUG 5, 2013
Shared from a 12oz can into a nonic glass, thanks Greg. It poured a clear, straw colour with thick sudsy white foam and lace. Aromas and flavours of corn, corn, and more corn. Light body, strong carbonation, residual corn syrup sweetness all the way through to the sticky aftertaste. Glad to have the chance to try it, but it didn’t taste good at all. Canned, 0.355l. Clear straw color with small frothy white head and sparkling apperance. Aroma of hay, light bread, cooked vegetables, dust and some citrus. Taste starts light fruity or yeasty acidic, followed by light sweet adjunct malt and finished slightly bitter. Light body, thin texture and average carbonation in palate. You will certainly stay sober with Soberana, no mattter how many cans you drink...
