abemorsten (3649) - Mosterøy, NORWAY - FEB 23, 2014
Sampled at the RBNG-14 Grand Tasting. Clear deep mahogany body with a white film. Malty nose. Sweet, dark fruits and a gently roasted bitterness that leaves the tongue dry. Medium to full bodied and smooth to drink.

Shared bottle at RBNG-14. Pours clear deep brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of roasty malts, toffee and chocolate. Taste is light sweet and roasted, weak dry, with a lingering dark liquorice and chocolate finish. Good.

yngwie (17078) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - FEB 18, 2014
Bottle, 22oz, at RBNG-14 Grand Tasting. A brown one, unclear, and topped by a beige head of moderate size. Roasted aroma with some coffee and molasses. The hops play a significant part too. Full body and a nice carbonation level. Lasting roasted finish with molasses and a touch of dried fruits. Pretty pleasant this one. 140215

Bomber from CraftShack. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma is very chocolate. Near full bodied. Flavor is dark malt, chocolate, and coffee. Maybe a hint of smoke. It’s pretty dry, and moderately bitter. Has an astringent aspect in the finish. Tasty.

Dark red pour with an off-white head. The aroma is full of dark fruit, cocoa and chocolate. The flavor has a good bit of cocoa and smoke with some roasted malt notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

SDalkoholic (2395) - Linda Vista, California, USA - JUL 5, 2013
Bottle from Whispering Tree: Appeared as a dark brown liquid with almost no formation of head. Aroma is mild with a light roasty malt nose that comes across as a bottle of iced coffee. The drink is sweet and bitter with roast ground coffee bean and toasted brown malts that doesn’t make this that special of a porter.

22oz bomber pours pretty darn dark with a mocha tan sort of head. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, some burnt malts, chocolate and then a red wine like tartness. The taste, sadly, is the same. I get roasty to chocolate to burnt malts followed by tart tannin red wine like notes. Not that great.

Headbanger (3999) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 20, 2013
22oz bottle 4/20/13 (Binny’s Naperville Clearance Rack)-43° in English Pint-Pours a dark brown with ruby tints with a loose tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and hops. Taste of chocolate, coffee, malt, and slight hops. This full bodied Porter is well balanced and quite tasty.
