At common table with Colin, Jacob, Justin, and friends. Pours golden yellow with layer of white head. Aroma is strong fantastic awesome very delicate floral fruity hops. Reminds me of exponential hoppiness, taste is dry, awesome full flavored hops that envelope the palet. This is an absolutely exceptional ipa. Ibrew2or3 (8913) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - OCT 9, 2014
Poured up on tap at the brewery where it exhibits a clear pale gold body that supports a near white head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The aroma is a juicy mix of mango, cantaloupe and lime as well as having a thin onion spicy hop edge to it. This smells Nelson-ish as it gets slightly white wine like at the end of the draw. The taste is thick rich Nelson goodness supported by sweet clean thin maltiness where notes of tangelo, mango and cantaloupe fruitiness bubbling up along with just a sliver of sweet white wine grape sensation to midway. Toward the finish it picks up resiny almost onion like earthy hoppy notes that inject short spikes of bitterness into the involved juiciness that’s going on here. This is every bit Alpine Nelson that I have ever had. Is it better . . . MetalNHopHead (2275) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - DEC 18, 2016
The Apprentice isn’t quite as juicy and candy-like as The Pupil, but you’re really splitting hairs when you need to make observations like that. The fact is, this is another outstanding IPA from a brewery that clearly knows how to make one. Light amber color - excellent head retention; a layer of foam stayed on this beer all the way to the end. There’s a lovely mix citrusy, zesty fruit presented on the nose and palate. Grapefruit, pineapple, tangerine, lemon, and lime. Oily and somewhat creamy feel. I’ll really need to pay a visit to Societe the next time I’m in SD. want1DIPA (227) - - MAR 6, 2014
On draft at Societe. So clean, crisp and sweet with a strong but mellow hop burst! Amazing!
