On tap at Sockeye Pub & Grill, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out cereal notes and straw. Flavour is along the same lines, with cereal malts, straw and biscuity notes. Dry and easy to drink, but not especially good. stevoj (5367) - Boise, Idaho, USA - DEC 25, 2013
One of the best American kolschs I’ve tried. Light and airy, mild grain aroma and taste, slight hop tanginess at finish. Clear golden with laxy carbonation and small fluffy head. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - AUG 10, 2013
12oz can labeled Galena Gold. Rating #19. Pale yellow color with a nice white head. Light corn aroma with some sweet malts. Light cucumber flavor followed with a little bitterness and more sweet grains. (2860) stchloe (1104) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 19, 2013
Good kolsch, light and clear/clean body with a slight malt sweetness, ends with a dry hopped quality. Fatehunter (2585) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JUL 1, 2013
Poured minimal head on a clear, golden colored body.
The aroma is clean with mild dry grain smell.
The taste is mildly bitter with a sweeter middle to finish. Good balance.
The texture is slightly sticky with a crispness.
An enjoyable ale.

Quite a few Sockeye cans arrived around Boise today... Surprised I haven’t reviewed this one yet... The Galena Kolsch is a goto for me when I hit the brewery. Picked this up at the COOP... Poured glowing polished golden into my HotD goblet... Short lasting white head is appropriate.
Clean pale maltiness on the nose... some minor spicy hoppiness just to keep things interesting. Never any bitches about the aroma, this is a well done Kolsch.
Again, clean pale malts... same appropriate hoppiness... malts are dry but with a residual bready character... sorta minerally on the finish that helps dry it out..
light/medium body with a good carbonation.
This will be a summertime staple... Would be great sitting around an early evening campfire after a long day hotspringing or hiking.

Draft @ the Brewpub. Pours a very pale yellow color with a small white head. Has a malty grainy weak hoppy aroma. Dry malty grainy flavor with weak hoppy hints. Has a fruity malty grainy finish with some weak bitterness in the aftertaste. oldrtybastrd (5003) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 6, 2010
Pours a golden yellow. Aromas of lemon, grains, celery. Flavor is crisp, dry, sweet malt, and a mild hop. Ibrew2or3 (8748) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAR 30, 2010
On tap at the Sockeye brewpub. Pours clear gold with bright white head. The mild aroma is mostly sugary sweet malt and a sense of yeast along with spicy and grassy hops. The taste begins with a brief pulse of spicy and floral hops before a wave of sugary sweet malts and graininess roll them over. Into the finish there’s lingering spicy and floral hop bitterness. It tries to be too sweet but the pleasing level of hop bitterness keeps the sweetness somewhat in check. jcwattsrugger (12506) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - MAR 5, 2010
on tap-pours a white head and yellow color. Aroma is sweet light malt. Taste is sweet light malt, herbal hops bite.
