nitro tap. smooth feel, a little on light side. Nice cocoa tones dominate but there’s not much in the way of depth. Decent beer, lacking in the impy stout category. jake65 (3695) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - SEP 28, 2014
Draft @ BP. Dark brown, near black color with a small tan head. Mild lacing throughout the glass. Nose is mild; roast, espresso, and light chocolate. Really easy drinking for the style and well-hidden ABV. Faint espresso, roast, chocolate, and smoke. Ever so slightly bittersweet in the tail. A meat and potatoes version of the style. Had this recently at PreFunk and at the Cole RD pub.
Wow.. this one looks fantastic... deep dark brown head has great retention and lacing.... the brew is thick and stains the glass with each swirl.
The nose is rich and fudgy... spiked with roasty malts and I would guess there is some espresso in there.
Flavor is every bit as good as expected... rich waves of dark malt and bittersweet chocolate... again, I swear there is quite a bit of coffee in there as it warms.... finishes surprisingly dry... but it lingers on the palate forever.
Body is a bit bigger than medium... creamy small bubble carbonation.
I really liked this one and think it can stand up to any of the more "geeked over" big stouts... It would be awesome barrel aged... hint hint hint. BuckeyeBoy (7680) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUN 13, 2014
On tap at bittercreek Boise. Pours out a nice black topped with a tan head. Nose is roast malts milk chocolate and some coffee. Taste is as the nose with a nice roast malt chocolate and some coffee. IndianaRed (4619) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JAN 7, 2012
On Tap at Brewforia Beer Market, Meridian, ID Deep black witha modest tan head. Soft dark chocolaty aroma lacking a lot of strong bitter roast notes. Flavor is woody and roasty but pretty tame and not too daring. Still, solid, and a nice lingering moderate bitterness at the end.
