Picked this up with five others at Whole Foods on a recent work rip to Boise and later grabbing five more at Bier:Thirty. Had reviewed two others from Sockeye back in 2013 and enjoyed them both, giving the original Dagger Falls a 4.04 and a special cranberry kolsch at 4.13. Also liked the Mango Dagger Falls (3.81).
Poured a reddish brown murky color with three fingers of rocky off-white head. Serene setting underneath. Excellent foamy spiderweb lacing. World-class foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled a pleasant mix of hops and malts from the jump. Got wet Cascade, dish soap, caramel, toffee, spicy rye, menthol, herbal and some toasted barley. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste was a bit maltier than the nose, but still followed it or the most part. In order got menthol, herbal, toffee, caramel, toasted barley, spicy rye, hints of black licorice and really a black IPA, Cascade, Citra, toasted barley, lemon zest, lime and dish soap. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long rather hoppy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
A pretty good American Strong Ale overall. Kind of Black IPA meets ASA, but still good. (Overall - 3.75)

12 ounce bottle from hayduke that he rebottled from a growler. A huge head is beige. The beer under it is copper hued and clear. This one didn’t hold up well. It is sour and very herbal. Occasionally sweetness comes through along with spice. The yeast, or more likely, bacteria, was not kind to this. hayduke (5204) - Eureka, California, USA - MAR 13, 2015
This was from a half growler from the growler station at Paul’s Grocery in McCall, Idaho. In the glass was red amber. Beige head . Good lacing Nose of roasted malts and pine hops. Medium body. Flavor is some light fruit, malts, and floral and pine hops. Finish is earthy and bitter. Very nice. stevoj (5036) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JAN 3, 2015
This is real nice winter warmer, mildly hoppy, modestly malty, and lots of gentle warmth. Darkish amber with adequate beige head. Lingering resinous hops on the finish.

Pounder: Honey and pine needle nose. Clear auburn, medium tan head, decent lacing. Ash, whole orange, grapefruit peel. Slightly smoky. Medium body, resinous, soft carbonation. Good and intensity of flavor, distinctive. JohnGalt1 (1721) - Boise, Idaho, USA - NOV 13, 2014
Nice head... golden tan collar left with good lacing ... hazy lite chesnut color.
Earthy toasted malts ... nice ... good hop balance ... piney and a bit resinous ... Complex malt profile.
Wow.. Sockeye has dialed this one in this year. Dark toast and roasted nutty grains.. raisin in the mid palate with big balanced bitterness. toffee and piney hop flavors linger for quite a while. Medium body and tiny bubble carbonation ties everything together very well.

Deep dark copper and amber coloured body with a nice once centimetre tall just off-white head and a little lighter glow at the bottom. Aroma of toasted malt, toffee, caramel, rich sweetness and some lighter fruits - very nice, but still deep. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and piney hops up front with a large toffee, caramel and robust malt flavour at the end - very nice, complex and well-balanced. Aftertaste is quite lengthy with the hops showing right at first then fading to a subdued toffee and caramel sweetness and ending with a light earthy malt flavour. Overall, a nice beer with a good profile and a solid taste throughout, showing some sweetness, bitterness and complexity! I sampled this twenty ounce pint on draught at Home Team Sports in Boise (BOI Airport), Idaho on 08-April-2014 for US$ en route back home to [the real] Washington. drfabulous (7941) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - FEB 20, 2014
16 ounce can thanks to Boisebeerguy. Caramel and spice. Rich reddish hue and color. Hoppy aroma and taste. Nice finish.
