750 mL bottle pours deep reddish brown with little creamy head into a snifter. Thin aroma of caramel malt, hops, grapefruit. Hop bitterness balances well with the caramel malt, kind of a burnt sugar taste. Finishes with some light toffee, raisins, brown sugar, bit of booziness. Exceptional silky mouthfeel. Full bodied and low carbonation. Good stuff that warms nicely. Underrated. ditmier (1508) - Boise, Idaho, USA - DEC 21, 2009
Draught @ the Brewpup - Pours dk amber with a small beige head...aroma is roasty, hoppy and slightly sweet...flavour is exactly what I dig in a winter brew, sweet caramel malt, roast gritty grain, nice bitter and aromatic hop balance, little bit of cocoa...finish is warming and sticks to the insides...I really liked this one... pineypower (3295) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - JAN 18, 2009
Thanks to Toby for this one. Pours out a ruby-copper color with a small to moderate slightly off white head. Aroma is of some citrus hops and some caramel/fruity sweetness. Taste is complex, dried fruit and some interesting earthy notes are balanced well by a good hit of some citrus flavored hops. Alcohol is barely noticeable.

Courtesy of Degarth. Pours copper with a bit of haze and thin tan head. The aroma has a quick hit of roasty malts before sweet dark fruity esters are noticed with layers of boysenberry, Concord grape jam and cherries. Yum. The taste is just like the aroma with a mild roasted malt flavor that rides throughout. The dark fruitiness isn’t as bold as in the nose and seems to be cut by mild grapefruit and pine hop bitterness. BuckeyeBoy (7535) - Boise, Idaho, USA - DEC 15, 2007
On tap at Sockeye Boise, Pours out a dark murky brown topped with a small tan head. A nice sweet aroma of citrus hops. A pretty nice winter brew. A little spice and some sweet hops. Very well done. jake65 (3626) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - DEC 5, 2006
On Tap at Sockeye: Deep mahoghany color with ruby tones. Nice lacing too. Aroma is fruity and of sweet malt. Taste is a combination of fruits, caramel, maltiness, citrus, hops, and a hint of spice. Featured a nice medium body and finished clean, moderately crisp yet smooth. I’d gladly have another... Dhrjericho (66) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 14, 2006
Aroma has a light maltiness with heavy hops, pine and grapefruit. Heavy bitterness with a long smokey malt flavor. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 6, 2006
25 oz bottle, via Bück Dich. Pours a dark mahogany colored body with a small fine bubbled beige head. Nose is primarily citric hoppiness over a syrupy malty base. Notes of nuttiness, caramel, alcohol, and dark fruits. Flavor is aggressive hoppiness backed by a thick caramel malt and alcohol base. Finish is bitter with alot of warming alcohol. There’s alot going on here, but it doesn’t seem to meld well. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with nice fine moderate carbonation. It becomes a little syrupy and sticky on the finish. There’s alot of flavor in this beer, but it seems like flavor for flavor’s sake. Rather in-your-face, maybe with some time this would mellow some.
