50 cL bottle. Pour deep dark brown with a huge creamy and diminishing chocolate brown head. Aroma has a noce blend of toffee, chocolate and some mild roasted notes. Flavour starts rather sweet, showing a short caramel malt sweetness before a more solid and yet smooth chocolate flavour takes over. A minor note of liqourice appears before the finish and together with the bitterness gives the finish a little bite. Lovely, yet it goes well on its own without food and not together with food - actually not that Christmassy imho.

Ungstrup (38958) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JAN 13, 2008
Bottled. A hazy red-brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of pumpernickle bread, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with primar notes of caramel, but also lighter notes of pumpernickle bread and earth, leading to a dry bitter and slightly roasted finish.

Clear deep brown - red beer. Medium crisp palate. Spiced Xmas beer. Smooth chocolatey malt. The spicing is quite subtle. Maybe a pinch of cinnamon and ginger? Lively carbonated bite in the finish. Nicely joined up but just a little cloying.

Travlr (26430) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - JAN 1, 2011
Bottle at Birch & Barley. Murky brown color. Aroma of sweet caramel. Taste has a malty start, lots of dark roasted coffee grounds. Slightly boozy. Nice.

Papsoe (25054) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JAN 10, 2008
(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Hazy, dark, reddish brown with a beige head. Sweetish aroma of burned caramel. Medium-bodied with dry, burned caramel accents and a fairly bitter finish. Interesting. 281207

From tap @ Søgaards. Dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, a bit of liquorice and rather spicy. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. The finish is dry and spicy. Served way too cold. They should treat their own beer with more respect. 071109

Draught at the brewpub in Aalborg
Dark amber to red-brown color. Light caramel aroma, with a sweet touch of spices, almost herbal, minty. Caramel flavor with clear spicy character (cinnamon and star anis overall). Correct bitterness, with medium dark caramel in the end. Very typical Nordic Jule Øl.
