A dark, spicy and wholesome bottom fermented luxury beer. Besides pilsener malt, dark malts have also been used, which gives a richer, but also slightly heavier caramel character. Honey has been added.

Bottled as Knuthenborg Bryg Dark: Thanks to Papsø: Served in a Chouffe glass: Dark brown pour. Medium sozed beige to light brown ish foamy head on top of a deep dark hazy brown colored beer. Aromas of liquorice, toast, toasted malts, leaves, autumnal herbs, some soap and some chalk. Flavours of liquorice, raisin, flowers, toast, some dried prunes, bitter, sweet tar, brown sugars, cream, autumnal herbs, rye, hint of older leaves, bread, yeast and a sprinkle of some spices. Overall a sweet raisiny and liquorice flavour. Aftertaste is a smooth mix of raisin, toast, creamy autumnal herbs, liquorice and bread. Low carbo, soft creamy mouthfeel, medium to lightly fuller body and a creamy light oiky texture. For 5.5% this is thick, quite strong and filled with toast, raisin and especially liquorice. Nice beer. I like it.

[Thanks to fonefan]. 50cl bottle. Dark brown colour with a one finger beige head with an average duration. Aroma is light toasty and acidic. Flavor is toasty, light caramel and oxidation is present. Final with an average bitterness.

Tap @ Brewpub. Pours clear dark amber with a small tanned head leaving small laces. Aroma is malty a bit sweet fruity yeasty spicy. Flavor is a bit acidy malty bready spicy yeasty and has a medium bitterness. Finishes shortlived malty and a bit spicy.

Bottle @ home.... grift for Karin .... Thanks my love ;) ...... It pours clear dark brown with a small creamy tan head..... The aroma is roasted malt, caramel and honey..... The flavor is light smokey, roasted malt, fruits and honey.....roasted finish.....

On tap @ Henrik. This is a deep mahogany brown one with a really bubbly light beige top. It smells really subtle, but I’m able to pick up tones of burned sugar, dark malts and some hints of cocoa and chocolate paper. It opens a bit more up after a while in the glass. Tastes quite nice though, and it has a thin oily texture wit a soft to average carbonation level. Light cocoa flavored with dark malts and a soft gentle tone of burned caramel before it ends with a hint of cold wood in the finish. A nice one. 10.07.2012

Foffern (1963) - Bodø, NORWAY - SEP 13, 2012
On tap at Henrik, Bergen. The colour is very deep reddish brown with a medium beige compact and coffee-like head. Wonderful sweet aromas of chocolate, sweet malt, dades, some roast, little bit of lactose and ice coffee. Very nice flavours as well with some of the same things; chocolate, dried fruit and caramel. Has a slick mouthfeel, and a light bitterness. A surprisingly balanced and good dunkel.

0.5 L bottle from Kræs&Kram, Nordby, Samsø. Very dark, reddish brown body with good clarity. A layer tan fish-eyes on top. Rounded, dark caramel-scented malts to the nose. Notes of sweet bakery and raisins. Clean, medium full malt body. On the sweet side, yet with a certain freshness. Nice dark caramel flavor, some dark dried fruits, and a discreet peppery bitterness. Well- bodied. Smooth and juicy in the mouth. Rounded malt finish. Very likeable.
