Draft at Fobab 10. Pours a pale gold with a white head. The nose is fruity and interesting. Some oak and spice come through, both from the yeast and oak. Vanilla and an earthy note. No chocolate, per se, but I think that’s the derivative of the earthy note. On tasting, moderate fruity notes, drying finish. Clean overall with some bitter citrus. Nice beer. Sampled at FoBAB 10 - 2012 (Chicago, IL). Pours a richer hazy golden pour, dark with good haze. Some orange, lemon hues with gentle frothy hazed head. Aromas are gentle fruit, passionfruit and cocoa, some yeast, gentle wine and oak. Red wine, big citrusy lemon and grapefruit. Huge aromas. Initial is thinner body, grapefruit juice, gentle oak, lemon, some bread. A bit thin and wiley, some oak, gentle wine and tropical fruit, pomegranate, and passionfruit. Rich grapefruit juice. Middle is a touch sweet, more grapefruit. Cocoa doesn"t show much until the backend, a bit roasty and earth. Finish is gentle tartness, oak, and big grapefruit, dry, tannic. Certainly an interesting beer, fun clash of flavors. Nose is stupid crazy rich and inviting. Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 21, 2012
This poone poured a reddish color with a beige head. Aroma was lots of passion fruit, and light cab notes, not much of the cacao nibs, but some light yeast too. Falvor was pretty mujch passion fruit and wine with yeast. Not amazing but really unique and interesting. deyholla (11901) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 20, 2012
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2013 Sampled from the tap at FOBAB 2012. Pours a near clear yellowish gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is holy passion fruit that is slightly sweet with a hint of backing Cabernet. Flavor has more tartness from the passion fruit but still maintains sweetness with a nice dryness in the finish. Really worked for me.
