Quite smooth. Roasty . With a tiny little hop blast. Very little saison/ farmhouse influence. Good beer just didnt follow their states description in my opinion...those s.o.b. s

[Tap] Black colored pour with about a half inch of brown head. Nose is of bitter hops and charred malts. Flavors of pine, chalky malts, yeast, ash, some licorice, chocolate and some funk. Mild astringent notes as well. Medium bodied. I was honestly hoping this would come together a little better. The flavors conflict quite a bit. andyhwcinc (1884) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 18, 2014
Enjoyed on tap at Kumas Corner in Chicago, IL while eating dinner with co-workers. Appearance is pitch black, light tan head, served nicely in a tulip glass. Aroma of light pine and Belgian ale yeast, relatively delicate. Taste is nice, definitely a hoppy saison, nice mixture. nuplastikk (6220) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 7, 2014
22oz bottle. Exploding gunshot style noise when the cap opened. Not a gusher, but seems a little infected. Saison Black IPA. Interesting enough, Roasty, oily black malt tones. Funky, spicy herbal Saison twang. Sort of a mess, doesn’t come together in any real enjoyable fashion. The roasty thick black specialty malts guide it through the mild brett infected yeast tones. Drinkable, quality ingredients, but not an impressive end product. Dfonorow (2216) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 2, 2014
On tap at Solemn Oath. Pour is close to black with a very small off-white head. Aroma and flavor of dark chocolate, pine resin, light fruit, smoke, peat, and belgian yeast. Finish is bitter and yeasty. jaymobrown (1845) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 26, 2014
Decent, from what I remember. It had a bit of light around the edge but overall pretty black. Decently funky with some malt characters, but didn’t notice much spice or fruit or yeast.

Bomber from Mr. A’s. No bottle date - so shrug? Pours black as promised, with a cake-y brownish head leaving a lot of lace. Aroma has roast, pine, caramel and some citrus. Some licorice down through the glass. Taste is of tangy yeast, some roast, grapefruit, and sweet caramel, with some black malts. The roast is more pronounced in the early part of the glass, and the tangy yeast comes through stronger later. Medium bodied. Some alcohol comes through. Finishes nicely blended between bitter and sweet, but with that tangy yeast mixed in as a slight detraction. Solid tasty effort. Unfortunately the yeast was a negative. 14.1 EyeAmBaldman (461) - Illinois, USA - AUG 15, 2014
On tap at Reggie’s...pours black with a thick caramel head. Aroma is barley, hops, and roasted malt. Taste is bitter on the backend with a ton of hops and dark malts. Good black IPA. charule (2257) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 2, 2014
On tap at Kumas Corner. Poured black with fine beige head. Aroma of roast resin. Light carb med bod. Odd taste of mint roast astringent hop. Strykzone (7306) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JUL 26, 2014
Sampled at mwbbf. Indeed black. A thin beige layer. I smell some roast and fruit. Not big or profound. Roast is tasted first followed by citrus. The IPA part seems to beclassic west coast. Bitterness is really pleasant. Some brightness followed by a bit of coffee. Nicely done. markducommun (1096) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 23, 2014
Dark brown, reddish tinge. Light tan head. Deep dark chocolate, earthy nose. Quite dry bitterness upfront, malty sweet back. Thick body, pretty chewy. Quite acidic. Very good.
