3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 10, 2014 On tap, poured into a stout chalice. The aroma is most notably grainy, yeasty, and caramel with a floral note. It?s a slightly hazy, caramel red color with a fluffy, light tan colored head which retains nicely with a soft surface dustin and leaves a light lacing. The taste is medium sweetness with a medium bitterness. The medium body has a slick texture and a zippy carbonation. The mouth starts with a light citrus, some stone fruit, and a heavy dose of caramel. This turns to a toasted grain, nuts, and rye flavor by mid sip and finishes with a toasted grain, raisin finish. A fairly strong, dry, lingering aftertaste of clean rye follows.
Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, super dense and microfoamed tan head - about four centimetres tall. Aroma of rye, malt, earth, mushrooms, cardboard and a touch of smoked peat - nice. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong malty and earthy flavours with some caramel, toffee, bitterness and a touch of coffee noticeable. Aftertaste shows a lot of rye and specialty grains with some caramel and sweetness as well. Overall, a good beer with a well-structured profile and enough complexity throughout. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from West LakeView Liqours in Chicago, Illinois on 14-November-2015 for US$8,95 sampled at home in Washington just two hours before leaving back for Chicago on 10-May-2016. markducommun (1121) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 10, 2015

Draft. Pours a reddish amber. Spiced in the flavor and nose. Plenary of clove. Rye in the flavor pretty mesh. TheArgoPirate (113) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 10, 2014
On tap at Revolution brewpub. Taste is nutty, toffee and caramel with a harsh yeasty finish. Decent, but it represents yet another botched American attempt at a difficult Belgian style.

Goblet at Revolution Brewpub. Brown leather appearance. Tight bubbles make up a beige colored head that is thin on the brew but leaves a decent coating on parts of the glass. A touch of rye in the nose but otherwise not much fragrance. Taste is slightly roasted malts and. Belgian yeast. Rye spice is saved for the finish. Just ok. tmoreau (4411) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JAN 29, 2014
Solemn Oath’s pairing beer at this year’s Chicagoland BPSO. Dispensed to my fest glass showing a hazed amber color, with a decent layer of tan head foam, and wavy lacing. The nose was light spice, malt notes that were light toast & nuts, with a touch of vanilla. Medium bodied, with some earthy bitterness, light creaminess to the mouthfeel, lively carbonation that may have been a bit too fizzy, and dryness to the finish. Paired successfully with the apple-smoked pork loin+. SudsMcDuff (8438) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - JUN 4, 2013
