Bottle. Deep garnet hue with a finger of cardboard-colored froth. Aroma blends many notes: walnut, toffee, peanut, cacao, menthol, raisin, toast. The flavor has these as well, but in subdued form. Burnt bread and peanut skins lead the way for fig, caramel and anise before a smooth, dry, subtly smoky finish. Cotton-soft medium body; silky fizz. A light but drinkable and well-balanced porter. this is a really nice american style porter peanut buttery, roasted malts and a nice hoppy flavor dominate. had a bomber pour at home. color is deep brown with a thick tan head. smells chocolatey. awesome beer! whitehotg8 (85) - Illinois, USA - APR 20, 2015
Poured into an imperial pint glass. Dark, slightly transparent with a crimson hue and a thick light khaki head. Smells of a light roast coffee, toasted malts, baking chocolate, and a hint of nuts. Mouthfeel is medium bodied for sure with medium to light carbonation. Tastes of easy roasted malts, light espresso, spices and just a hint of bitterness. Really nicely balanced though and pretty session able if you wanted it to be. Solid porter. MyPorterHouse (12) - Illinois, USA - FEB 14, 2015
Smoke, roasty, Medium body, bitter finish, basement aromas, pair with cheese or chocolate Mainuh_man (291) - NETHERLANDS - FEB 7, 2015
64 Oz growler. Pours black with a fight brown head. Interesting floral, piney and soapy hop aromas. Mild sweet cereal malt flavor, mild hints of roastiness, long, fruity hop linger. Medium body with a slick mouthfeel and mild carbonation. Overall, nice hoppy porter, but not tons of porter flavors.

[Tap] Dark brown colored pour with a small brown colored head. Cocoa, milk chocolate and mild roasted coffee in the nose. Moderately roasty flavor profile. Chalky malts mix with orange zest notes from the hops. Medium bodied. Lingering roasted finish. kaser (6366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 14, 2014
Black pour from draft at headquarters. Had a carmely and toffee aroma. Thin brown head. Sweet ginger toffee taste. Cola and malty notes BVery (11209) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - NOV 3, 2014
Tap at the taproom. Very dark brown pour with a smaller foamy light beige head. Mildly sweet toffee aroma with a citrus kicker. The orange/citrus comes out more on taste and harmonizes well with the mostly sweet / slightly bitter chocolate. Really well done. Imperial_Scout (363) - Illinois, USA - MAR 23, 2013
6% served from firkin into a 12oz snifter. Black with minimal head, Nose of strong coffee, chocolate, and toffee. Dry hopped, in which I think served as a nice back stop against the maltyness. A nice beer. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JAN 19, 2013
Draft on tap at the brewery (Naperville, IL). Pours a rich deep blackish pour, dark and opaque body moves to more brownish edges, some light. A small frothy tannish head atop dies to a small ring, laces ok. Aromas are toffee and chocolate off the bat, both sweet and bitter. Some biscuits, toffee, and gentle orange and floral hops. Really nice and richer nose offers a good malt vibrancy with fun supporting hops. Initial is medium bodied, a good orange and cocoa vibe off the bat. A bit thinner than the hoppy stout, it offers cocoa and toast, some toffee. A firm orange and floral hop feel starts to hit. Grass, earth, cocoa and bakers chocolate. A bit creamy and silky into the middle, the malt bill is quite pleasant, dry and bitter mix with an enjoyable toffee and chocolate mix. Backend is lingering cocoa, toffee, orange and earthy hops. It’s not complex but the experience works very well, quite drinkable, flavors integrate nicely. Nice beer.
