Sample FOBAB ’12 - Pours orange/brown with thick white head that won’t go away! Aroma is difficult for me to pin down - a vinous character, some malt, wood - almost more ’barrel’ than ’base’. Flavor is light sweet malt, some citrus fruit, grape...not really picking up the cherry in particular...turns sour mid-drink - not bad. Palate is medium bodied - long finish. Good overall. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 6, 2012
Draft. Pours hazed orange with white head. Aroma has a huge wood character, vanilla, muted tart cherries. Flavors are butterscotch, vanilla, wood, mild tart cherries with a spicy finish. Med bodied. It’d be better without the butterscotch. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - NOV 27, 2012
Sampled at FoBAB 10 - 2012 (Chicago, IL). Pours a richer dulled amber orange hue, good haze, a bit dulled with frothy whitish head. Dies to a film, laces ok. Aromas are richer white wine, oak and gentle white grape, melon, kiss of citrus. Some cherry, touches of bread, dough, spice. Initial is gentle citrusy and fuzzy white peach, oak, citrusy lemon, bread and gentle brett. Kiss of cherry, oak. Middle shows citrusy and dry, tannic barrel, oak, and sourness start to leap. Backend shows lingering grapefruit, white peach, dashes of melon, and gentle dry Belgian yeast. Nice. Nose and flavors are quite pleasant. deyholla (11606) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 20, 2012
Sampled from the tap at FOBAB 2012. Pours a near clear amber gold with a tan head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has sweet grains and cherries with a hint of chardonnay and light grapefruit. Flavor has sweet grains and a bit of grapefruit up front with growing bitter cherries and light dry red wine. Pailhead (6540) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - NOV 17, 2012
On tap: The aroma consists of chocolate bourbon, cherry, oak, and a hint of lemon. It’s a slightly hazy amber with a small white head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of cherry and oranges. The finish has bourbon, vanilla, and a touch of lemon peel. It’s light bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel.

On tap at bangers for the takeover... Pours a hazy darker reddish amber brown pour, allowing some light to get through, while being topped a very thin soapy white head... Aroma of oak and hint of bourbon to go along with vanilla and the. Sharper red fruit and semi-tart notes on the backend ... Flavor start off with a bit of oak, vanilla, and bourbon then swag into more of a tart red fruit and young berry quality. A bit of leather and earth throughout. Easy drinking with a lighter than medium body and very light on the carbonation level. Didnt quite come together.
