On tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep copper with a frothy off white head. Aroma of toffee, citrus hops, biscuity malts. Touches of floral and tropical fruit notes. Maybe a bit spiciness, surrounded by pepper and salty caramel notes. Flavor is salty and peppery, with bits of lemon, rye, and caramel. Whole wheat toast, lemon butter, pine, and grapefruit. Medium bodied, crisp mouthfeel. Lively carbonation. Nice.

Draught at Barrelhouse Flats. Poured dark clear reddish with white foam. Aromas of citrus and honey. Semi smooth bready hop taste. Interesting. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUN 24, 2013
ampler on tap at Haymarket Brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a deeper copper pour, decent haziness hits with deeper hues, copper orange glow on the edges and bottom. A frothy offwhite near tannish head atop dies to a filmy layer, laces ok. Sticks around ok. Aromas are gentle sweetness, a bit toasty, bready and biscuity malts meet a firm dry citrusy hop, grapefruit and florals intermix with dryness, a touch resiny, and a bit of tropical fruit jumping in. A bit more toasty, carmelized. Initial is a bit fruity, some peach and grapefruit, gentle tropical fruit, lemon and florals. A firm bitterness hits, moving into a more malt focused middle. A bit toasty, carmelized, and biscuity. Bready, the tropical fruit element is light but still continues into middle and backend. Some toastiness, fruit, a decent to middling hop presence. Lemon, grapefruit, some tropical fruit. Backend is still semi dry, some mellow to decent bitterness lingering on. A bit toasty, malty with some carmelized elements. Firm bitterness really finishes off, surprising over that malt bill. Dry and bitter, citrusy and floral, some mellow fruit clings, bit of toastiness. Not a style I usually enjoy but this one certainly delivers a well rounded and bitter slanted experience. cubs (10714) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 22, 2013
