Ray himself is not much of a Stout fan, so as a homebrewer, he created a Stout that he himself could enjoy. It’s a simple recipe: no coffee, no chocolate, liquorice, anise or other ingredients that would conflict with German purity laws: Roasted Barley and Black Patent malt flavor this beer and make it one that Stout lovers and non-Stout lovers alike can enjoy. Try it! It’s

Thanks Tim. Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a hazy dark brown color almost black with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that feel off at a good pace. Some lace. The aroma had a ton of roasted malts with some grainy dry sweetness. The flavor leads with the roast and seems to end up being in the finish. There’s no aftertaste in this. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Roasty dryness grinds into my tongue. Overall, super dry all around with not much else, well, it’s okay, maybe again.

Draft. Don’t know if it lives up to its name but a decent smaller sized stout, roasted notes, cocoa.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy dark brown with a deep tan head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of roasted malts with dark grains, a bit of dark chocolate and dryness. Flavor has a strong roasted malt note with dark grains and a dry finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Nice black pour with a light tan head. Dark roasted malt in the aroma and flavor with a nice smooth finish. Interesting stout in the it doesn’t try to overpower you with coffee and chocolate. Very solid, drinkable beer.

Draft at the brewpub. Deep garnet body, thin cream/tan head. Nose of anise, roast and oats; grainy with light spiciness. Light nutty body with notes of chocolate and anise; slightly woody. Pretty good, light but pleasant.

Pint at the brewery. Poured nice and dark with the proper head on top. A very pleasant aroma of hops. The taste was a light to medium bitterness but very smooth on the palate. The overall impression was a total winner. Keep up the good work.
