COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the extreme personality Beer that we decided to produce to demonstrate the potentiality of our techniques. It is a creation that requires a little of preparation before you approach it. First of all a minimum of history. The Barley Wine is a style that originated in England during the Napoleonic wars because France had placed an embargo on the sale of their wines to the mortal enemy. The English nobility elaborated a workaround in the production of beer with a high alcohol content (just like a typical wine) obtained from the mashing of malt worth to get a high concentration must. Our Barley reaches an alcohol level of 10 volumes. It will amaze you for the set of flavors that can develop that make it similar to a Passito or a Port. Extraordinary and extreme original when accompanied by a cheese plate or a creamy dessert. Like some wines Barley also can (must) be aged and in fact we have also already begun the aging process in oak barrels used to age the most one of the most famous wines from Ticino’s friend Enrico Trapletti. Think that you can easily find at auctions Barley bottles priced several hundred dollars! Do not expect to find foam in this Beer as in the bottle it is not produced any carbonation just to enhance the overall boccato as important wines. By drinking this creation you will feel ideally in the company of nobles and kings of old England maybe after a fox hunt.

Bottle 330 ml / Bier-Bienne (CH). Red garnet beer without foam ! Heavy malted aromas, syrupy of toffy-molasses, fruity of orange jam and dry fruits. The taste is very sugary, fruity with dry prune juice put soaking, candied apricot and date. The whole is coated with caramel, cough syrup. And besides it’s limp and disgusting.

eduardovl (1454) - SWITZERLAND - AUG 6, 2016
330ml bottle served in a snifter glass. Pours a dark and cloudy amber color forming a very thin tan head that disappears quickly leaving no lacings in the glass. Nose is very sweet and fruity. Strong notes of toffee, caramel, dark dry fruits and alcohol. Taste follows the nose. Strong notes of toffee, candi sugar and caramel malts. Dry plums and raisins. Light bitterness. Sweet taste, in overall but still not overwhelming. Full heavy molasses body. Very low carbonation. Toffee in the aftertaste. Good drinkability. Not bad.

SinH4 (4971) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - MAY 24, 2016
Bottle courtesy of Marco Buraschi. Amber color with beige head. Aroma is red apples, hints of caramel, light freshness from the yeast. Taste is slightly tart, caramely, a bit of an Oud Bruin character in there. Light tartness. Quite balanced and fruitier than most Barleywines. Low carbonation. Better than the Barrel Aged version 2016 we’ve had before.

Bottle, thanks SinH4. Orange, light haze. Sweet, light fruity nose. Medium body, surprisingly light on the palate. Spicy, a hint gunpowder, fruity, broad hops in the background, sufficient restsweetness. Pleasant drink.

(bottle, thanks to sinh4!) murky amber-ruby colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of peppermint, white pepper and pork scratchings, with a light touch of green peas and apple juice. flavour is mostly bubble gum, cherry juice and rotten pears, with some more green peas, yeast slurry and a medium-bitter herbal-hoppy finish. heavy-bodied with soft carbonation.

anstei (2358) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - FEB 1, 2016
Bottle at Monday Club Erzbierschof. Sweet and heavy, but dangerously quaffable. Short finish, unfortunately.

4.2
Sissio (1670) - Orsenigo, ITALY - MAY 2, 2015
Clear ruby brown, minimal brown head. Aroma of a nice mellow dessert wine such as passito or sweet moscato. Raisins, passito, wood, licorice root, toffe and caramel notes. For meditation.

Bov (12888) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - APR 29, 2014
from the brewery - cloudy dark brown beer with a modest head retention; strong aroma of apple and toffee; very sweet; full-bodied; residual sweetness, very fruity (apples and raspberries marmalade) finish - quite a nice beer
