(Bottle) clear, bright very dark brown colour with a small brown head; aroma of roast; creamy palate; dry flavour with a long, light bitter finish

355 ml poured at home. Day 19 of the craft beer advent calendar. Pours dark brown with a tan head. First smell I thought “grape”; second go was roasted nuts and malts. Taste is slightly bitter with malt, smoke and a touch of alcohol. Reminds me of the black ipa here at Origin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with a large, creamy, long lasting, tan head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, bread and light caramel. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, lactose, anise, dark fruit and a hint of smoke in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Nice.

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2017 Smooth and creamy, surprisingly velvety for the style. A bit sweet of milky lactose. Clean and very enjoyable. 2017 beer advent

Dark color, near black. Smooth, a bit thin, good dark malts, not the Lager character that is expected, but a good "Stout".

355ml bottle @ Matt's. Pours an opaque black with a thin beige head. Nose is lightly roasted with a more prominent toasted bready malt. Flavour is quite simliar, simply put with a mild bitter finish.

12 oz. bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, with bready malt, some vanilla and a touch of caramel. Flavour is robust, with toasted malt, light vanilla and a touch of caramel. Rather bitter as well, but it works well enough. Nice stuff.
