3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber. Appearance is black with substantial dark brown foam. The aroma is mildly sweet and roasty with a strong emphasis on dark chocolate, caramelized sugar and toffee. The taste starts out with a heavy dose of roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate and black licorice as well as some espresso, vanilla and Kahlua notes lurking in the background. Mouthfeel is creamy with moderate carbonation and a burnt, boozy finish. While the Belgian influence is minimal, it’s still a fairly well-balanced and enjoyable 10% Impy Stout.
This one caught me by surprise, the smell is vanilla, cocoa, coffee, the taste is dark fruit, vanilla, coffee, chocolate. A hint of spice, a little creamy, very complex! Because it has some much going on with its complexity, the ABV sneaks up on you. This one is a classic. jonno (2761) - JAPAN - NOV 20, 2016
Very refined, taught, roast RIS. Hides ABV well, lots of dark chocolate and roast with an austere finish. luttonm (6271) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 9, 2016
Bottle in Seattle. Heavy black, good tan foam. Bitter black licorice, spice, some alcohol richness on aroma. Fairly dry body, Belgian character I suppose. Some spice, black pepper, chalky dry. Alcohol is pretty well hidden. Licorice undertones, some fruitiness. Fair warmth. Quite fine. andrewje41 (3874) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - OCT 9, 2016
22 oz bottle poured, shared by Matt. Thanks! Celebrating the Bengals 7th TD of the year, even though there is very little about this game to celebrate. Pours black with a rocky tan foam head. Slightly dough malt and licorice aroma. Flavor is smooth, and a soft sweet. Chocolate, and a stout unique fruitiness. A late heat to it, reminding the double digit abv bill. Definitely get a unique imperial stout here with the belgian yeast. Overall a pleasant, very tasty stout here. Impressive. Capa (3295) - Kitsap, Washington, USA - AUG 27, 2016
Black pour under a dark head. Licorice, roasted malts, chocolate, molasses, and faint smoke. Complex and full of intrigue. Finish is sharp and bitter with cocoa and more licorice, especially as it warms. Body is on the medium to near thin side, which aids its drinkability. A very enjoyable Imperial.

Black color, small head. Mild aroma of roasted malts. Lean body, some roasted malt flavor, also quite sour; low bitterness.
Is this what it was supposed to be or is this the result of an infection? Not too bad.
Smells of chocolate, pours dark cola brown with thin head. Tastes of chocolate, coffee, bourbon. Body is thick and creamy, quite good. Arayaga2 (2197) - portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 22, 2016
Dark brown/black, with light cocoa notes. Taste is dry-ish with chocolate, and very mild Belgian esters. $5/12 oz

Bottle - Pours dark brown tan head - nose/taste of coffee, toffee, chocolate, raisins, raisin bread, black licorice, dark fruit - medium body. dfinney23 (3269) - Houston, Texas, USA - DEC 21, 2015
Pours near black with a foamy dark head. Aroma of chocolate and yeast. Taste is unusual but not in the typical "funky Belgian" way that my wife sometimes doesn’t like.
