22oz bottle from Atom, thanks Adam! Pours a deep brown, mostly black colored body with a finger-width, creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is like a Peppermint Patty. Lots of mint with a nice chocolate backing. Bourbon comes out a bit more as this warms as well as a light roasty note with just a touch of coffee. Flavor is similar. The mint is again strong, but thankfully not too overpowering. Still very reminiscent of a Peppermint Patty up front, but the chocolate is sweet enough to keep it balanced. A light bourbon towards the end as the roasts and coffee come out a bit more before this finishes somewhat dry and a bit woody with a pleasant, cooling peppermint. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a really unique and enjoyable stout. The mint is strong, but really well balanced by the chocolate and light bourbon, wood, roast, and coffee elements. Would love to see this in a slightly bigger body, but as it is, this is really easy drinking. Great beer. auerbrau (3206) - Ithaca, New York, USA - SEP 17, 2005
BLBF. Pours a deep murky black, with a fringe of ruby. Topped with a sparse bubbly tan head. Aroma is astounding. Like all the best mint flavors that I’ve ever enjoyed. A mint truffle, laced with coffee liquer or fresh bouquet of fresh cut mint leaves. All backed with a flash of herbed mint clean chocolate. Flavor continues on this deliciousness, with a fresh burst of Andes mint candies on the fron tend, moving into an acidic fresh roasted Coffee in my mouth, like fresh group drip Italian. Fades into a sugar mint kissed roasted deep chocolate. All of this carried on a swirling sweet clear water, that makes the beer as swillable as it is intricate. Palate is bubbly and fresh, not overly hot with any alcohol. Hops need not apply to this beer, but they may exist. Sugary and bright on the way out. Could not possibly be improved, except for a little more density. Thinness keeps it from excelling. But, overall, an excellent example of a well used Bourbon Barrel. I really spent some time with this beer. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - MAR 23, 2014
UPDATED: JUL 18, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Jeff! Extremely black body, dark beige head lasting as a thin film most of the way down. Aroma has heavy mint, coffee grounds, chocolate malt, light roast... no real indication of bourbon barrel aging on the nose. Taste is also heavy mint, with a mild menthol-like quality... Notes of chocolate, borderline York Peppermint Patty, some tobacco notes in the back-end, roasted malt, burnt coffee grounds, & a mild plum sweetness. There’s a raw whiskey tone that grows heavier with warmth & makes this harder to drink, as the finish gets quite abrasive. Starts off good, but gets a little too harsh & cumbersome fairly quickly. Had promise but kind of fell flat. Bacterial (3074) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - MAR 9, 2013
Dark black pour with a nice tan head. Strong bourbon and mint nose - really wonderful! Not too thick, but a big burst of coffee, bourbon and heavy mint in the taste. Unlike any other beer I have has before, really nice!!! BOLTZ7555 (3028) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAY 29, 2011
Bottle generously shared by Sparky...thanks, my friend! Aroma of used coffee grounds, caramel, and a little vanilla. Flavor is similar. Fairly smooth...no off flavors. Medium mouthfeel.

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber. Big aroma of mint, coffee, and tobacco. The flavor is minty, tobacco, a slight brettanomyces character, bourbon. This is a bit muddled. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - JUN 8, 2013
22oz bottle. Rating #69 (haha). Dark cola brown with a tan head. Big mint aroma with some vanilla and chocolate and coffee to add a bit of bitterness. Flavor is decent, more mint and coffee with some dark chocolate and a little bourbon, not bad, but it needed a little more body for the barrel aging. July 21, 2012 from a bottle at All Pints North. Dark brown pour with some head. Bourbon, mint, coffee and chocolate in aroma and taste. Medium body and little carbonation. Really solid beer, but I am a sucker for bourbon. Atom (2599) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 1, 2013
Bomber pours a dark brown/black with a thin tan head. I’ll have to agree it smells a lot like chocolate chip mint ice cream with a backing of bourbon, not in a bad way though. Wow nice taste! Earthy coffee, a hint of mint, sweet chocolate, and rounded out with vanilla and bourbon. Very well rounded and drinkable. From the aroma you’d think the mint would be overpowering but no one element is every dominate. Very drinkable, nice! I need more of this stuff. MIBRomeo (2579) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 19, 2013
Terrible... Things in this beer were mixed that should not have been mixed.. first off mint and bourbon.. no.. I thought this sounded interesteding but a 2oz sample was still too much.
