On tap at the Muddy Pig in St. Paul. Dark rich brown pour with a nice fluffy tan head. The aroma is mint and bitter cocoa. The mint and bitter cocoa are present in the taste as well but there is a hint of dark candied fruit too. No one flavor dominates this beer, but the bitter cocoa is present throughout. UPDATED: JAN 17, 2008 had at ABR 07. like was said IT IS UNIQUE. i liked the mint mixed in but could use more coffee and slightly LESS mint but wow it was good and refreshing for sure. will try to hunt this down again for sure.
EDIT: By some miracle of the beer gods, I stumbled upon a freshly tapped keg of this at Old Chicago in Apple valley, MN. which is nice since we drove 450 miles for growlers and when we got there, they were out.!!!! Anywho, i thought it was about as tasty as I recall. It seems to have strong mint right away that faded a bit over time. as for the coffee it too seemed to fade slightly overtime. But, the end result after it sat for ten fifteen mins to warm up a bit was really really good. Had a nice dry finish, you could taste a sweet/minty flavor but it was not overpowering, and the coffee was quite subdued almost more of a burnt/heavily toasted stout. Overall it was good. a++ inkubus27 (269) - highland, Indiana, USA - AUG 10, 2008
GTMW 2008. Really looked forward to trying this and wasn’t dissapointed. The aroma on this was about the same as a bowl of mint chip ice cream. Amazing. Flavor on this was good but the body was a bit too thin for my liking. Overall though this is definitely something to try if you ever have the chance. ztrvz (218) - st paul, Minnesota, USA - SEP 13, 2004
well, this is definitely a well crafted beer. but the mint is overpowering. i couldn’t finish my sample... i’m sorry, i guess i don’t like mint in my beer. (or peppers). (or smoke). maybe if it was my first beer of the night and i had time to sip and enjoy it, i’d rate it differently. i’ll try it again. stankenk (130) - Maplewood, Minnesota, USA - SEP 28, 2008
ABR ’08 - Pours a deep dark brown with a thin off-white head. The nose was strong in mint, with subtle hints of coffee, & chocolate. Came across the palate with a strong coffee but it had a very nice minty finish. Very unique I would defiantly buy this .
