Pours a nice dark reddish amber with a nice head which faded to light lacing. Aroma was of sweet malts with a hint of prunes. Taste as similar with a heavy roasted malt front end with a slight tang to mild hop finish. Palate was good. Overall, a very nice brown ale. o_Merlin_o (235) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 9, 2017
Pours with a creamy head, nut brown color. Slight coffee aroma. Smooth coffee palate. Not bitter at all. Not too bad! Aggiebob (1298) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - JUL 23, 2017
Bottle. It poured a reddish brown with a quickly disipating off-white head. The aroma was nutty with notes of caramel and light chocolate. Easy to drink. nr706 (13) - Evanston, Illinois, USA - SEP 8, 2016
Massive gusher from a well-chilled bottle. Of the remaining beer, good caramel notes, malt-forward, very smooth. Just wish more of the beer would have stayed in the bottle, rather than making me mop it up off the floor. Smoothsippin (49) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 27, 2016
Pours a dark amber with a big beige head. Bready and a bit boozy to the nose. Smooth mouth feel, a bit sweet then a slight bitterness on the swallow. Pleasant contrast with a lingering finish. Haven’t had it in a while. It’s as good as I remember it. Recommended.

Sampled at great taste. Clear amber. Kind of bourbon looking. It is nutty and fruity. Clean and easy to drink. Earth. Just a little fruit. Ratman197 (15368) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - FEB 5, 2015
Bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of caramel, fruitiness and light cocoa. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of caramel, light fruitiness and a hint of cocoa with a smooth lingering caramel finish. Loki930 (7) - - OCT 3, 2014 does not count
Had it at The Pickled herring inside sven and olles in grand Marais, MN. I got it because it was on tap. It had a good brown color and went well with the pizza.

Sample at Great Taste of the Midwest on 08/09/2014: Clear brownish-amber color with a medium thin foamy off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing. Roasted nuts and malt in the nose. Light body with flavors of roast malt, peanuts and slight hops. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Just average overall. beerbaaron (2046) - Arizona, USA - MAR 21, 2014
Pouring dark reddish, maybe light brown, amber. Very small wispy white head, minimally lasting. Aroma is malty, sweet. Caramel. Toffee. Bready. Fruity. Light body, perhaps a bit thin. Finish is fairly dry, nutty. OK, but unexciting. Easy drinking enough.
