COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our only named beer to date. Its' honorary status is in tribute to its' designer, Allen Rhoades, a fellow brewer who captured a blue ribbon at the Western Washington State Fair when it was entered as a homebrew. It's everything a stout should be. Rich and hearty, not thick and overpowering, comes complete with a creamy head. Chocolate and crystal malts along with roasted barley combine to create the wonderful flavor. Compliments deserts well: try one in place of a cup of coffee.

Aroma of milk and hazelnut. Medium body, roasted coffee and malts up front, but takes a weird left turn in the middle of the tongue... soemthing like a cut lawn... or a bad cucumber... an odd vegetables/grass flavor which kills any points it was going to earn. The finish has a warming scotch quality along with a creamy texture.

Very dark brown. Decent head. Very nice aroma with nuts, burnt caramel, dark malts, and coffee. Medium body. Creamy, oily mouthfeel, and a pretty chewy, fudgy texture. Full flavored, starts with coffee, and burnt malts followed with some roast, caramel, wood flavors. Finish is malty, with a good hop presence and some smoke. Very respectable stout, and one I hope to enjoy again.

#29 of my Stouts of November: Opaque with frothy tan head and some lace. Aroma hints of roasted malt, nutty, molasses, mocha, coffee, raspberry, aromatic hops and minor phenols. The taste starts mocha sweet and has undertones of coffee and smoke. A nice bitterness and acidity is on the finish. It is full-bodied but it’s not at all overbearing. A very solid stout with some nice complexities. Recommended.

Deep black liquid with slivers of dark cherry highlights. Nice off-white tannish creamy head of foam about a finger high. Smell is faint of dark roasted malts and old-been-sitting to-long-coffee. Taste is nice coffeeish, roasted darken malts, lingering a bit in burntness and chocolate, ends in a moderate hop twinge of bittering dryness. Good soild full medium body with a earthy darkened dryness in the finish. Good stout offering.

Thanks to hey_kevin for sending this my way! This is a very impressive Stout. Pours the requisite deep dark color with a lasting medim thick light brown head. Nice roasted coffee aroma with a little hops. Warm and pleasant coffee and malt flavor. I really liked this one.

Hearty, roasted stout with plenty of coffee bitters and enough accompanying, sweeter mal action to put cream in that heady coffee.

Dark brown with a healthy head. Coffee/malt smell. Coffeeish flavor. There's something about the mouthfeel that I just don't like, but I just can't figure out exactly what.
