From the bottle, courtesy of Summer Secret Santa 08, pours black with a thick but quickly dissipating brown foamy head. Smell is sweet, with aromas of coffee and sweet malt, a hint of alcohol and some chocolate. Taste is a bit sweet, but also a bit harsh. Flavors of sweet malt and cappuchino dominate, but there’s also some almost fruity notes that appear as the beer warms. The harshness of aftertaste also disappears when it’s no longer cold cold. A bit thin, but this is a solid beer. Jmichael (640) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - SEP 8, 2008
solid dark brwon pour with full fluffy brown head, smooth sweet aroma, spritxy palate, sweet front, mild finish, hidden fruity background, dry finish. kyzr (1546) - Montana, USA - SEP 1, 2008
Pitch black with giant tan head. Nose is rather weak, but has some roast on it. Flavor is sweet malt with roasted hints. Chocolate and slight coffee round out the flavor. Body is medium with a some bitterness on the finish. amishcaravan (247) - Winona, Minnesota, USA - AUG 13, 2008
pours very dark with lots of head. it will probably take a couple of pours to fill the glass because of all the head. taste is of coffee and is sweeter than exptected. finish is quite smooth. not a bad beer. Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - AUG 11, 2008
The body is virtually pitch black, capped by a foamy, tan colored head. Micro-bubble sheeting slides back towards the body, a few random splotches remaining frozen on the glass. The aroma is very straightforward, roasty baker’s chocolate and caramel notes showing alongside a dose of lactic creaminess. The flavor shows an unexpected, slightly sour funk to it up front, but that quickly fades into bitter chocolate, scorched caramel, day old coffee, barley, and earthy hops. Medium-plus in stature, the mouthfeel is drastically overcarbonated and fizzy. Is this supposed to b a stout soda, because that’s what it feels like. Not terribly impressive in any facet, the palate just ruins this one. Decent at best.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2012 Black with thin brown head. Minimal lacing. Chocolate, espresso, and roast, sweet malt caramel aroma and flavour notes. Balanced and smooth. Medium bodied with mild bitter finish. phishpond417 (2088) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 8, 2008
A pretty tastey stout. Pours a dark chocolate coloured body with a huge tan head. Soft aromas of a breakfast blend coffee, smoke and dark chocolate. Light vanillar flavor and a creamy finish. HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - MAY 31, 2008
Bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is roasty. Flavor is chocolate, roasted malt, a bit of coffee at he end. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, pretty creamy and smooth. Overall, my only complaint is that it isn’t thicker. Good stout. restless7 (104) - Lenexa, Kansas, USA - MAY 4, 2008
BOTTLE: room temp. Pours black with lively tan head, quickly dissipates. Aroma is not very strong but definite roastedness. Flavor packs a punch of roasted barley and cocoa. Palate is bubbly but short lived. A decent stout. alexsdad06 (10423) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 10, 2008
12 oz. bottle courtesy of my Secret Santa. Pours a dark, dark brown color with a large tan head that patiently fades into a creamy crown. The aroma is roasted malt and mediumsweet dark chocolate. The flavor is also heavy on the roasted malt and dark chocolate. Additionally, a significant shot of coffee slips in at the end. Medium to full bodied and creamy smooth drinking brew. This is a solid stout indeed.
