Bottle: Opaque, dark brown edges, large light brown foamy head, sticky lacing.   Roasted malt, apple/pear skin in the nose.   Fairly sweet roasted malt flavor, soft fig/raisin, a bit of apple/pear skin.   Low IBUs.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Roasty finish, lingering fruity notes.   Not light, but not big, but otherwise very enjoyable.   Thanks Mr Dick! #29 of my Stouts of November: Opaque with frothy tan head and some lace. Aroma hints of roasted malt, nutty, molasses, mocha, coffee, raspberry, aromatic hops and minor phenols. The taste starts mocha sweet and has undertones of coffee and smoke. A nice bitterness and acidity is on the finish. It is full-bodied but it’s not at all overbearing. Bottle: Courtesy of RagallachMC via trade. Aroma has lots of cocoa powder along with light vanilla, roasted malt, fruit, and the slightest touch of coffee. Pours a dark brown with no transparency and a large tan head with very good retention. Starts with lots of dark chocolate and hint of vanilla. Moderately strong fruity backbone. Black, brownish head. Thick and full bodied, with an aroma of chocolate and butterscotch (in a good way). Smooth and filling, with a flinty, coffee flavor up front. smooth, latte -like finish. 12 oz bottle from Jeffy’s neighbor Fred, thanks man! Pours a solid balck body with a larger beige frothy head, nice. Aroma has some nice raostiness and vanilla extract but then there is this slightly weird sour powdered milk scent mixed in. Flavor is really nice with lots of roasty malts, burnt toast, dark chocolate and vanilla. Medium to fuller bodied with slightly strong carbonation and a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Very nicely done.

Draft at The Old Fashioned. Opaque black with an oily head. Pleasant coffee aroma. Smooth and mellow body, somewhat dry. Roasty with a subdued cocoa edge. Draught at the ABR 2006. Available in bottles at Chicones, Hudson , WI. thick and better than average oatmeal stout, even though I don’t know if there is actually any oatmeal in it. Clear very dark brown. Roasted cocoa dominance, but slightly phenolic at the same time and surprisingly sulfury in mouth, which was certainly unexpected from a stout. Simplistic cigary and oaky palate, rather dry, heavily roasty.
