Draft at South Street. Clear golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of caramel, malt, light spices, citrus. Tastes of caramel, bitter hops, toasty notes. Light body with a dry finish. Atom (2556) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 10, 2015
12oz bottle pours a dark clear Amber with a large khaki head. Aroma of caramel and toffee, like a chocolate tootsie pop. Taste hits sweet chocolate powder and quickly falls off into becoming empty veggies. Yuck. drfabulous (8467) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - JAN 8, 2015
12 ounce bottle. Caramel and toffee with a slight candy chocolate taste. Decent amber with a nice twist. jgb9348 (6433) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - DEC 15, 2014
Light amber coloured body with a thin, funky bubbled one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, stale malt, light hops and some fresh fruits. Light-bodied; Strong malt notes throughout with a touch of caramel and very light hops noticeable at the end. Aftertaste is pretty bland with only the earthiness from the malt and the light sweetness coming through - no complexity and no depth at all - very simplistic and easy drinking. Overall, a rather lacklustre beer with no real flavours nor complexity, not style or character and just a shell of what a beer could be. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Crystal City Wine Shop (12th Street Location) in Arlington, Virginia on 24-November-2014 for US$2,29 sampled at home in Washington literally a few steps away on 14-December-2014. jackl (8286) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 14, 2014
Keg @ South Street. Amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, red apple, light chocolate. Taste is similar. Bready. Some caramel. Light and spritzy. OK.

Dried leaves, caramel, bran nose, hearty. Clear dark copper, thin head. Bran cereal flavor, lightly sweet. Excceptionally true to style, at least the way I view amber ales. bartlebier (4111) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - APR 18, 2014

14/09/2012. Reminded me of flat Palm with a helping of root beer. Watery, with diffusely aimed toffee and roast notes popping up. "Mild", hence "our most popular selection"? Satan’s Pony is not a stallion to-be, but a gentle buck mercifully rescued from the glue factory.
Enjoyed a taste of this beer while in the brewpub in Charlottesville, VA. The beer had a mostly clear copper color with a touch of dark amber and a smaller foamy white head with short retention, modest cling and good lacing. It had a rich malty caramel and floral blend aroma mixed with a lighter grain and cereal characteristic, but was slightly muted overall. The taste was a somewhat sweet caramel malt flavor with a slighter grainy-earthy bitterness, and a touch of cereal sourness. The beer was wet and had a watery body with a lighter, average-to-thin mouthfeel, along with low carbonation and fizz.
