COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPAs are more highly hopped and a bit stronger than traditional pale ales. There are two distinct styles - English and American. English IPAs tend to be more subtle and a bit maltier while American IPAs have a bolder hop character.
Southampton brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles in his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maltier, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristic of Southampton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead!

boxofrane (2559) - Spring City, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 10, 2012
Bottle. Pours copper with a small white head that dissipates to a film quickly. Aroma is mostly citrus with a few light hop notes. Not the most inviting. The taste is citrus forward with a light bitterness. This seems more like a middle of the road APA than IPA.

rlgk (18843) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 7, 2012
Bottle. Somewhat hazy Derp golden beer with à nice lasting offwhite head. Hoppy fruity aroma, grass, bready, malty, butter notes, citrus, grapes, some pine. Hoppy fruity flavor, perfume, caramel, citrus, grapefruit, cream notes, peach, metal notes, milky, hay, some pine Apple. Nice but not overwhelming.

Not a favorite IPA of the English style, hop profile is kind of weak, barely forward at all, malty body dominates.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle, thanks to BlackIPA
Aroma: caramel, earthy/floral hops
Appearance: cloudy orange with a thin dissipating head
Taste: strong caramel malt character, fruity/floral/earthy/citrus hops
Palate: medium bodied, a touch mineraly
Overall: A solid English IPA, this bottle may be a touch oxidized, but overall a nice beer.

Deep amber pour with average head. Some lacing. Maltier than other standard IPAs, apparently that is the English heritage. Pretty good offbest standard IPA.

rorgel (12) - - JUN 25, 2012
Pours a beautiful golden color with a tight head that disapears quickly. Deep english ale flavor, deep caramel without the hoppiness of most IPAs (i guess this is the english way). Great finish that leaves a long sweetness.

micronaut129 (241) - chalfontborotowntonbergville, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 23, 2012
A nice amber ale with lots of dense off white head that lingers for quite a while leaving spotty lacing in it’s wake. A balance aroma of caramel malts and floral and earthy hops. A good tasting ale here with a nice hop pop of earthiness and a bold malt backbone. Moputhfeel is smooth and mellow with low levels of diaceyl. Leans more to an English IPA with lower levels of hops and more in ay of malts. A good tasting beer good as a session beer somewhere.
