Dark brown with a generous head. Aromas not surprising of bakers chocolate and toffee. Nice roasty malt beginning to end. Light to medium mouthfeel and smooth as glass. This is what I expect from an exceptional porter. mkobes (2142) - paramus, New Jersey, USA - APR 25, 2005
On tap at Tap New York. Deep dark brown in color with a nice head. Roasty and malty aroma. Caramel and chocolate notes. Nice roasty flavor. Sweet tasting. Some bitterness. Full bodied. Flavor is roasty with chocolate notes. Enjoyable beer. Probiere (992) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 6, 2004
Brown--not black--this is promising. Milk chocolate latte smell. Start sweet, finish mild coffee. Some bitterness, some roast, bitter chocolate aftertaste. Solidly a porter, not a stout. Nice example. I like it. Sancho (245) - Da Bronx, New York, USA - JUN 20, 2004
On tap Brewtopia 04, A dark almost black porter burnt malt flavor with some cofee aftertaste. a fine ass beer apoptosis (1317) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 29, 2003
Mild overall flavor with hints of roasted coffee and cocoa. It's pretty thin-bodied for a Southampton brew, but it's a decent porter. Crisp and refreshing.

A respectable porter - opaque with thin white lacing - coffee-ish aroma - coffee in the flavor as well, some chocolate, a hint of spice and a touch of hops - finish is a little thin - not southampton's best, but quite good. muzzlehatch (4959) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 30, 2003
Draft: chocolaty, well-balanced, very smooth, some nice vanilla & hints of other spices, ending a little weak; didn't seem so coffeeish to me. Cask: much sweeter & smoother, brown sugar predominates. Rating is for cask, regular draft would be .1 to .2 lower overall. austinpowers (2828) - San Francisco, California, USA - MAY 22, 2003
This beer seems to have been just released by the Southampton Publick House for May, 2003. It's got a strong coffee flavor, which is more to be expected from a stout. Reminiscent of Speedway Stout and sort of tastes like I'm drinking coffee grinds.
