UPDATED: DEC 31, 2007 Bottle. Yeasty and herbal aroma (reminded me a lot of the Westmalle Tripel yeast character) leading to a fruity flavor with a juicy sweetness ending in a dry finish. Mango, citrus and peppery spice combined makes a for a complex ale with saison elements. White head and clear straw colored body with good effervescence. Not 100% true to style IMO, as it reminded me a lot more about a tripel style ale with its sugary sweetness - but nonetheless a nice beer - although, but a bit pricey at $15.

Bottle. Lemon, orange, biscuit malt, cardboard, and straw aroma. Hazy golden yellow with minimal head. Moderately sweet orange, lemon, biscuit malt, yeast, and moderately bitter hay flavor. Good body.

Bottle from Capones. Slightly opaque orange with a thin film that changes into ring around the glass. Yeasty and muted citrus aroma with some orange and lemon up front, a bit of pepper and wheat. Moderate carbonation and body, some booziness, a bit bitter, becomes somewhat dry with a boozy and lemon yeast finish.

Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle corked and capped poured into a tulip. Opaque nice orange with no head. Aroma is off ripe fruit, medium body, no carbonation, and no lacing. Taste is off ripe citrus.

750 corked and caged bottle poured an orange golden color with a thin coating of white head that fell right off. Aroma has yeast, sweet grains, pokes of dark fruit, and some farmhouse touches. Mouth feel is fairly full with average carbonation. Flavor is fairly full, grains, some sweetness, wet flowers, and a bit of alcohol on the finish.

Bottle courtesy of my collegue Håkan. Thank you! And thank you to the fine folks at the Top Hops Beer Shop who help me reserve some good beers for my collegue to pick up. Pours hazy yellow with a rather big frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of spotty trace on the glass. Smell is tiny fruiuty, slightly estery and tiny phenolic with freshly baked white bread, hay, lemon zest, pears, dry soil, unripe banana, white pepper corns, grape skins and hints of cloves, cilantro and lemon juice. Taste is tiny sweet, tiny bitter, slightly spicy, tiny fruity, slightly estery and tiny phenolic with crackers, freshly baked white bread, banana bread, marzipan, hay, dry soil, white pepper corns, pear skins, lemon zest, oatmeal flakes, and hints of alchol. Mouthfeel is soft, slightly dry, very tiny spicy astringent, very tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is slightly bitter, slightly spicy, slightly estery and slightly phenolic with white bread, oatmeal flakes, hay, dry soil, orange zest, lemon zest, white pepper corns, coriander, banana leaves, pear skins, grape skins and hints of alcohol. Dangerously easy to drink and refreshing. Another impressive Southampton offering.

Great saison. Nice sweetness and carbonation, feels heavier than most saisons. Not too funky. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
