2009 GABF, Friday. One of the best Southamptons I’ve had. This one achieves complexity through the use of Brett and herbal, balanced hops. Palate stays smooth all the way through to a creamy and soft finish. Delicate, but not boring. Not sweet nor bitter, which I appreciate for the style. yobdoog (1888) - Kingston, New York, USA - SEP 10, 2009
Two bottles recently. 03 and 05. Both consumed in 09. Similar profiles. Aroma is sweet with faint spice and yeast with a little twang to it. Flavor is bright and mellow spice and pepper with citrus and yeast. Really good. jgb9348 (6433) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - SEP 6, 2009

Nice hazy orange coloured body with a dense white head that fades fast. Aroma of hay, grass, yeast ,wheat, coriander seed and some mild oranges. Medium-bodied; Assertive bready wheat and yeast in the taste with some fruit, alcohol and pungent acidic flavours coming out. Aftertaste has some nice refreshing flavours with citrus and coriander seed the most common. Overall, a good saison, definitely one to sample - if you can find it! I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Beers of the World in Rochester, New York back in 2005/2006? , sampled on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 06-September-2009 after plentiful amounts of resting time.
Bottle from 03 that one of the SH guys was pouring from at their booth at BCTC. Pours a light gold with a thin white head. Light lemony fruit aromas. Crisp and light with some nice caramel and plum tones, finishing clean and dry.

Pours a slightly darker hay color with white head. Spicy aftertaste mingled with a rose undertone and aroma. Great thirst quenching flavor. Prefer this to the Saison Dupont and wasn’t expecting to.

Another old rating. Aroma was some belgian and yeastiness. Flavor was smooth but maybe a little oxidized. I like all southampton saisons. radiomgb (2686) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 20, 2009
Golden-orange in colour with a long lasting white head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of apples, citrus, lots of yeast, brett, must with some light spice. The flavour is yeasty, some apples, some spice, lots of brett, quite musty. Dry mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes lightly bitter, sweet, lingering.Lubiere (14133) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 20, 2008
Very good but I can see that the end is near for this one. Starting to thin out over the past 3 years but still holding up well.
750ml bottle from Beers Of The World in Rochester, New York.
Opened on July 5, 2008.
No date (Southampton Bottling).
A golden ale woith a thick white head, effervescent. A pleasant fruity ester aroma, herbal, and nice. In mouth, a crisp malt, oxidized, a bit of herbs, thye. Shows its age. Bought at BOTW, one year old. jhumphries69 (1034) - Tyrone, Georgia, USA - OCT 19, 2008
750ml caged&corked bottle shared with ealdent. Pours a deep, hazy yellow/gold with a very thick white head. The aroma is excellent for a farmhouse: some malts, some yeast, some must, some grassiness. The flavor follows the aroma: a light amount of residual malt sweetness, breadiness, cry and crisp grassy bitterness, and some pleasant yeasty qualities. The finish is dry with a nice bit of spicy, peppery phenols and spicy, grassy hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is very well carbonated giving it a spritzy and light body. Overall, a fantastic saison - just as great as any authentic version from Belgium. Delicious. rcasta (864) - EL SALVADOR - OCT 18, 2008
