Our Southampton Saison is a faithful rendition of this classic "farmhouse" style ale. Originally brewed for consumption during the summer months, its slight tartness and intense fruitness make it a most refreshing drink anytime of year.

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2004 An unclear golden beer with a huge lazing white head. The aroma is very hoppy with notes of sweet malt. The flavor is of coriander and hops and with a dry end. This is an OK beer, leaning towards average. I’m suprised to see the very high overall rating. Thank to Jeppe (Bierkönig) for sharing this bottle.

Bottled, thanks hopsrus! Hazy pale amber. Honey aroma. Rich with some grassy hops and restrained sweetness. Light earthy funkiness and slightly salty finish. Good!

Bottle from 2005 at the 2010 Funky 6. Pours hazy amber with a slight head. Sweet-smelling aroma with honey and grassy hops. Nice flavor, with bready malts and yeast, understated sweetness, a mild herbal quality, and some grassy bitterness. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. Finishes with floral notes, spices, light acidity and light sweetness. Very delicate and delicious.

Cloudy golden color. Nice grassy and spicy aroma, and a light wheat fruitness. Quite simple taste, some malt, high liquorice level, yeasty and spicy; strong final bitterness. Average…

Bottle, St Albans Beer Festival 2005, however actually supplied by Duff via ClarkVV, so thanks to them both. Cloudy orange gold colour with lasting white head. Sour citric beer with floral yeasty notes. Gorgeous. Doesn’t try to do too much, but what it does, it does extremely well. Very well made.

Herbal, soft maltiness/yeastiness; slightly tart finish; earthy, orangey. A step away from greatness.

argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - JAN 19, 2004
Clouded amber body with medium beige head. Aroma is medium sweet (honey), herbal, spicy (tarragon?!). Taste is light sweet (honey), herbal, champagne, some spice. Very dry herbal finish with alcohol noticeable. Medium-full body, moderate acidity, some tartness. Yes I like, no I don't love.

Lubiere (13905) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 20, 2008

UPDATED: JUL 21, 2007 Belgium saison without the barnyard aroma. Hazy orange with some head and staying lace. Aggressive carbonation for full mouth feel. Refreshing orange grapefruit boldness. Bit of toothpaste aftertaste from spices. Thank you for sharing Doug Shoemaker and Joey Capps.
