A round, roasted, full bodied brew, unearthed from medieval Scotland. Enjoy this dark, silky stout and its perfect blend of flaked oats and eight varieties of malted barley.

Draft at the brewery This was a birthday dinner a is downtown brewpub. The stout poured a black color with a creamy beige head. This was a nice beer to enjoy with our meal The aroma had some coffee and roasted malts. The stout had a light body with soft carbonation. The taste had hints of toffee. Finish was clean and dry.

On tap @ Southend. Sort of a dark brown/light black color with a khaki head. I guess perhaps one of their less bad beers, but mostly because it’s just bland. Some coffee, ash, cocoa, and roasted malts. Light toffee sweetness and perhaps some toasted bread/grains. Pretty watery and thin. Poor body. Meh.

Pretty bad. Mildly contaminated and sour. Some roast. Some bitterness but sourness dominates here. No head or lacing. Tap at brewpub.

Keg at the Smokehouse, Charleston, 18/02/15. Light black with a moderate tan swirl. Nose is light roast, charr, toffee. Taste is rough, raw and unrefined, papery, washed out cocoa. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Poor stuff indeed, every homebrew stout/porter I’ve tried has been way better than this garbage.

At the brew pub. This was almost like w dry stout. Great lacing. Dark and clear. Rich roasted malt notes. Oily full start. Better as it warms. Fills in.

Draft, Southend, Charleston. Head is small, frothy/fizzy, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cocoa powder), with notes of milk, grape juice, chemicals. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, soft/flat carbonation. A really clunky, dirty rendition.

jandd1983 (4550) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - JUN 5, 2014
It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of roasted malts and coffee. The taste was of roasted malts, some chocolate and a hint of tartness.

Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Smells of sweet malt. Tastes of sweet chocolate, milky, some spicy hints on the finish.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2012
Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 12/7/12

Aroma: This one has a light roasty nose, fairly malty, and a bit one dimensional
Appearance: This one has a brown colored pour with a small head and minimal lace
Flavor: it has a dry roasted coffee flavor mostly, and with some other malts too
Palate: This one has a medium body, though it feels a touch watery, and has a soft carbonation
Overall Impression:  This beer is fine enough, I guess. There’s nothing super off about it or anything, but it just didn’t do much for me. Eh...
